Before we even sat down and looked at the menu, the waiter was already asking us what we wanted to drink. It felt very rushed. I ordered 2 sopes and when I received it, the tortilla was soooo soggy, it was falling apart, you could see there was water filled up on the plate, it was very disgusting. I asked the waiter if that's how it was supposed to look, and he said it was due to the chicken?? I returned it immediately. He asked if I wanted a new plate, but at that point, I lost my appetite and did not want to eat a soggy sope. No apologies whatsoever. I understand if the staff was busy but please be kinder to the customers. I did not feel welcomed and felt very rushed.
Perfect place for outdoor casual dining while checking out the cute shops in downtown Carlsbad. Just a few blocks from the beach it is very close to Humble Oils and right next to a barber shop that's been in business for 70 years!
I look forward to eating here when I'm in town. The menu is big and has lots of options (though I usually get the same thing . . . )
I really enjoyed my taco rice and beans
I have dined here often over the last few years because the food is the best Mexican experience I have found in the Carlsbad area. The food is delicious and very authentic. It is small, but since covid, it has expanded out intro State Street for patio seating. It is located in the center of downtown Carlsbad. I highly recommend it.
We stopped at this colorful restaurant for lunch and ate outside. My margarita was delicious but without tequila and my husband’s Coke was Pepsi. He liked his ‘wet’ burrito. My mole chicken dinner was awful. It was old chicken under a mass of brown mole with a tablespoon spoon of lettuce a few pieces of tomato the rice and refried beans were plain and with little taste. It was an expensive disappointment.
