Was there for a funeral luncheon almost 100 people bartenders were great and the waitresses of course the food was excellent as always
Been going to this place for years, decades actually. The food has declined somewhat, but is still ok. It's still one of the better seafood choices in the area, relatively speaking. My bigger complaint is with the the smaller portions and extra charges. Last time I was there I was charged a 5% charge for a container to take home the leftover portion of my eat-in meal. The owner/manager (?) insisted it was because the city was requiring some special kind of container. Guess they don't have to use it anymore (so much for city mandates) because tonight, when I ate there, they are now using some other kind of container and not charging. But I still got an extra dollar charge on my bill, this time for extra sauce for my Tilapia, which I wouldn't have needed if I had been given a sufficient amount with my meal. These petty extra charges, seemingly random and which change from time to time, have now left such a bad taste in my mouth that I won't be back to Gallo's again. I hope the dollar was worth the loss of a long time customer.
Loved the shrimp sampler but the best is the Manhattan chowder!
Had lunch in the Burger Bar. was fantastic. Juicy, delicious, and filling. Seafood today. Excellent. Chicken parm and shrimp Mac and cheese. Both terrific.
Something missing from past experience.
Gallo's has been a family go-to for over twenty years, in the wake of the Italian Bistro's eventual closing. We're always given a real nice table, and lately, my dad and I sit at the bar and have a really fun satisfying experience eating, drinking, catching up and shooting the breeze a little with the bartenders. I should mention that the front of the house staff is always exceptional, to rival the talent of an always humming kitchen. Complements to the Chef.
Food was delicious and the service was great
