Frasca Food and Wine

Opted for the Quattro Piatti tasting to celebrate my birthday with my girlfriend. The presentation was fantastic, but some of the flavors lacked the attention to detail you’d expect at this price point and reputation. Having worked in Michelin restaurants, I was extremely disappointed by the service and handling of a hair being found in our food. When the Scallop/Farro dish was set on our table, my girlfriend immediately spotted, and picked off a hair in front of our server. The server immediately removed the dish and it was replaced. Mistakes happen in restaurants. We were polite about this mistake and accepted the apologies of the waitstaff. However we were dumbfounded to see that nothing was done by the service team to make it right. I expected maybe that the dish or drinks would be comped on our $375 bill, but no. Instead I was forced to explain to the maitre d that we were confused why this mistake wasn’t reflected on our bill. He explained that finding a hair in our food (that the expediter should have noticed, given that we caught it immediately in a dimly lit dining room) wasn’t “a severe enough mistake” to justify compensation. Having worked in the industry, I’d be willing to bet that even an Olive Garden would beg to differ, let alone a Michelin starred restaurant. Mistakes happen in fine-dining, what keeps guests returning is how restaurants amend them, especially when people are spending hundreds to celebrate a birthday.

Wow. We came in to splurge as a new leap day tradition and Frasca did not disappoint! Every dish was made with simple ingredients but had complex flavors and was Italian food like we’ve never had before. Tons of veg/pescatarian options and the staff was wonderful. Highly recommend the sunchoke starter and banana dessert if you choose the 4-course menu!

The food was beautiful and service was good, but there was only one bite of the entire tasting menu that blew us away. Tables were pretty close together so it was loud and distracting to hear the people next to us so clearly. The tasting menu just wasn't that much food. I didn't feel satiated at the end. For paying over $500 after tax and tip for two people (no alcohol), I expected to be totally full but I just wasn't. That's even with not being that hungry to start and having 3 loafs of bread (the homemade sourdough was one of the best "dishes" we had). I also felt like it was a little too structured for me. I wanted to try the tasting menu, but also wanted to try one of the stuffed pastas on the 4-course menu, and was told that wasn't an option even though I would have been willing to pay for an extra dish. They also seemed a little reluctant to accommodate substitutes for raw food due to pregnancy. For all those reasons, I don't see the value for how expensive it was.

I can’t believe anyone has ever given this place less than 5 stars. My husband and I have been going here for special occasions for the past 3 years and every single time, it’s absolutely perfect. I have a gluten allergy and they are always ready for me with all gluten free options, the service is impeccable and the food / wine leaves you on cloud nine. We’ve been all over the world and have had a hard time finding a dining experience that gets it right as consistently as Frasca. It’s a true treat. Cannot wait to go back. Dietary restrictions: Great place for any dietary restriction. Tell them ahead of time and they’ll have everything ready. The gluten free pasta is top of the line

Luxury testing menu with top notch wine pairings. We came here for Valentine's Day dinner and was not disappointed. Loved everything! Highly recommended.
