This morning I bought a dozen eggs, a small jar of mild red salsa, and some tortilla chips. It cost me $36. Shame on me for not leaving the items on the counter and walking out. If it weren’t for the rotten food at Gristedes next door, I would have. Do yourself a favor and hoof it to Whole Foods.
I really really really want to like this place. However - $18 for 3 turkey meatballs. Not kidding. $7 for a small portion of over-salted brussel sprouts. Same items you can buy one avenue over at Whole Foods are 3x the price here. One heirloom tomato was $8. A note to management: Chelsea locals want to come here and not feel disappointed every time they leave.
Great specialty food and beverage selection, love meeting John and Gabe everytime I'm at the store!
The staff is lovely and the product selection is great, but they are absolutely, shamelessly price-gouging, both at the grocery and the hot food section. Very bizarre and sad — this would be my regular grocery store if they went back to doing business more honestly, as they used to. I wonder if ownership has changed or simply gotten greedy. Wine shop is still good and prices there are fine for the area.
The market used to have a nice hot food selection where you could grab a hot meal on the go. Lately they have it all boken down at around 7pm and the staff gets annoyed if you ask them if they have items on the back.. like salmon or mashed potatoes.. soups are not labeled so you need to ask them what it is.. I just saw the food service worker preparing food wothout gloves and using a dirty rag to wipe the counter.. they have lost me..I will not be returning and I have filed a complaint with the health Dept. Shame on me for not checking the prices…broccoli from the salad bar was $18 per pound
$4 for a single, medium sized peach.
Staff were great. Food was good too.
