Fong On

Came here for the first time after having watched a bunch of vlogs recommending it, and I'm glad I did. I've never really had tofu much, let alone in a dessert, and I was pleasantly surprised. Completely unsure of what combinations of toppings would go best with one another, I chose the Can't Go Wrong! with taro balls, red beans, and grass jelly and brown sugar syrup on the side to drizzle over the ingredients before eating. All I can say is the ingredients melded so well. The tofu was soft and creamy and the toppings gave the whole bowl a nicely added texture. The brown sugar syrup tied everything so well too and I almost wanted to ask for more because it added the right amount of sweetness. Fong On is a definite must try when you're in Chinatown. Delicious treats and excellent welcoming service from the staff.

This place has decent tofu pudding, but what impressed me more were the photos on the walls and the introduction to the history of the restaurant. It's heartening to see a family-owned establishment preserving traditional flavors. The service could be more welcoming, though. The shop is quite small, mainly for takeout, outdoor roadside dining, or enjoying the food at home. I recommend consuming it immediately by the roadside to ensure the best flavor.

The tofu with ginger is a really good snack! I tried other toppings with it like the boba but I would've preferred it more plain. The soy milk is delicious and sweet though.

Lovely shop selling tofu, tofu pudding (sweet and savoury), soy milk and rice cake. I prefer to do the custom toppings for the tofu pudding. They don't overly sweeten the mung beans and red beans which is nice.

This is the only spot in NYC I’d go whenever I crave sweet soy pudding. I have been a fan since I tried the iced sweet soy pudding, it’s not overly sweet but still tastes delicious. For topping, I always get the taro balls because of the chewy texture. The shop only has limited seating but it’s clean and tidy. I also highly recommend their rice cakes, my favorites are the green tea and brown sugar. Very airy and fresh, a perfect afternoon snack.

Everything here is delicious and fresh. I’ve tried the rice cakes, soy milk and of course the tofu pudding with and without toppings. My favorite is their plain tofu pudding with the sweet ginger sauce on the side. The only reason I don’t go as often as I’d like is because the location isn’t convenient for me. It’s in a neighborhood that isn’t near the subway or walking distance from my job and home. Bummer!
