Flying Fish Taphouse

My wife and I tried this place since we were visiting Jacksonville. Welp we were seated and forgotten about.. after a considerable amount of time staff came by and apologized saying our server had to leave on emergency. The Manager then came by and also apologized and gave us a free round of drinks. But then after the food took a while to come my food was just warm and hers was okay but then she got nauseous after eating some spoiled condiments.. So needless to say we may not be back but the live band was good and the atmosphere was great. They just need to tighten up on a few things.

Live music, Gator tail, and "what the people want" brews, all excellent!

The food was great; we especially appreciated how the squiggly fries were not only delicious but aesthetically beautiful. There was a price difference on the menu, which was marginal but still would have been nice to know. However the worker, Leah, gave us a free beer for our trouble. She was also very patient as we changed things and took a while for one person's order as they were not present. The hostess was very pleasant as well and there was live music.

Super friendly staff, excellent dishes

The food was great! My wife got the NY strip and I got the Shrimp and Grits. Both very good. We also got some fried apps and our son got a grilled cheese. All as you would expect. The drinks from the bar were perfectly made. Our server was outstanding. Our only complaint is that the restaurant is VERY loud. The concrete floors and wood ceilings cause the sound to just echo like crazy. We could hear every table’s conversations across the entire restaurant. I would suggest the restaurant put some sound panels on the ceiling to help. FYI, we’re a young couple that isn’t bothered with loudness, but it’s a bit overwhelming while you’re eating dinner lol.

New go-to place in Jax! Very clean and modern, without the heavy grease overhang in the air. Several in-house brews with a knowledgable staff to guide you to your tastes. My server provided a few samples before I decided on the Dogfight Vienna Lager. Highly recommended! They have a nice appetizer - street corn with crawfish, with a nice portion of crawfish meat! The shrimp/grits/crawfish tails was also a great combo. In the northern Jacksonville area/up by the airport this place stands out among the rest!

Flying Fish Taphouse is like a flavor carnival for your taste buds! The beer selection is so extensive; it's like a hoppy adventure. And let's talk about the New York strip steak – it's so good that if cows could write, they'd leave thank-you notes. The ambiance is as lively as a stand-up comedy show, and the staff is so friendly that you'll want to invite them to your next BBQ. If laughter, delicious beer, and a steak that melts in your mouth sound like your kind of party, Flying Fish Taphouse is the place to be!

Had the Elk burger. Was really good. Gator tail was also really tasty. Great selection of beers too!
