Food is good. The menu rotates based on fresh ingredients but a good variety - meat, fish, etc options. I am a pescatarian and plenty of options. Cocktails are well made and solid wine list (I am a picky California). Service was friendly and helpful. The restaurant is nice - choose to eat at the bar even though I had a table reservation. Make RESERVATIONS! Dietary restrictions: Pescatarian
The meal we had here was hands down the best we've had in Charleston so far. And with the best I mean spectacular. We had the Dutch Fork Pumpkin soup, chicken liver pate, schnitzel and a couple desserts and everything was absolutely fantastic. Not to mention the cocktails.. the lady who creates and makes them is an absolute genius. The dirty Martini is probably the best Martini we've ever had, the other cocktails on the menu are sublime and the specialty ones she made were phenomenal. Everyone we spoke to before we went spoke highly of FIG and all of it was true. We sat at the bar and the food, service and drinks were top notch. If you can get a reservation, don't even hesitate and make it. It's worth it all.
I came to FIG with my partner with great expectations. The reviews suggest this is a world class restaurant, but it was just slightly above average. The ambience was okay. It was dimly lit and we were seated close to other tables. Our server seemed disappointed that we did not order an appetizer or drinks and I came to find out why. The portions are super small and are overpriced! There is no complimentary appetizers like bread or biscuits. Another problem is their options are very limited. Great food, small portions.
Good food but overpriced with small portions
Truly one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. This restaurant lives up to the hype. The food was incredible. The service was great, from the kind hostess to wait staff, everyone was professional. I love that the menu changes daily and the chef is clearly passionate about his profession. We ordered the pumpkin soup, delicious but beware very slightly spicy. Yellowtail carpaccio was sooo good. We got the gnocchi both ways, both ah-mazing, the best gnocchi I’ve ever had! I could literally live off of this alone for the rest of my life. As entrees, we had the steak (yummy), fish (even better), and I think bourride. All very good but for me the gnocchi and sorghum pudding were the standouts. If you only go for one thing, get either of those two and you’ll be happy as a clam.
Anticipation was superceded by the great experience. Our Server Bobby was absolutely incredible; the dishes and wines he recommended just perfect; and so glad we were able secure a reservation 28 days in advance. They fill up well ahead.
By far the best restaurant in Charleston. If you haven't been to FIG then you haven't had good food. It's truly a life changing experience — you can tell there's passion, talent, & love into the meals.
Only had an app as had other dinner plans but wish I had stayed for more. Hope to be back again soon. The tartar was wonderful and the accompanying potato “cracker” was truly amazing.
