My wife and I saw this place on Guy Fieri's DDD at the height of the pandemic, and we were intrigued. Work brought me to Las Vegas this past week, and I ended up a Fat Choy for dinner. I was honestly curious about it, and it didn't disappoint. The casino where Fat Choy lives is a little bit rough around the edges. Not digging on it, just saying that it's no frills, as is the restaurant decor. The food and staff, however, were fabulous. Staff were friendly, and we had a great chat. I highly recommend the pork belly bao bun and the short rib grilled cheese. The teriyaki "rice bowl" was quite good, but was in the shadows of the other two dishes that I had. Definitely visit this place if you can.
Got the sloppy, dumplings, and the cucumber. Everything had a really unique taste but all seemed to tend on the bitter and bland side
Really wanted to like the food but it just wasn’t good honestly. It was all sour and I got 3 items.
The flavors and technique are gonna have me coming back all the time. The Cauliflower is a must and I could eat the cucumber salad every day.
First, I'd like to disclose that I'm not a vegan, but I'm open to ANY food that looks interesting or tastes good. So, if you're someone that enjoys a great vegan dish, yet also a steak, then this review is for you. I read about this place in a magazine, and saw it on GMA, so I figured I'd give it a shot to see if the glowing reviews they gave were accurate...and they were absolutely spot on. I tried everything on the menu, which was VERY reasonably priced, especially for NYC. If I hadn't known ahead of time that everything was vegan (and kind of Chinese), I never would have guessed it in a million years. I LOVED the mix of flavors and foods, from the rice rolls to the dumplings, and even the green salad! I thought at first glance when I saw the reasonable price, that this would be akin to food truck quality food (which don't get me wrong, is on average a B), however I was shocked at how amazing and varied each food option was. It really hits the whole range of your pallet, from spicy to sweet to savory, and quite frankly, supersedes any of my favorite Chinese restaurants in my hometown of DC.
