Farm Boy

Do not buy meat on sale!!! I bought some ground beef on sale and discovered they turned it inside out so that the red part is on the outside while all the meat inside was already brown and old. This is so incredibly deceptive of them! I should have looked at the reviews before going because other people have had similar experiences. Farm Boy is already marked up compared to other stores, but that is certainly not a guarantee of quality or even honest business.

Many new and interesting things I don't see in other supermarkets.

I always start a soup with marrow bones. Farm Boys are . Used dark ale for tenderizing and depth of flavour. This is lentil, green pea and roasted veggies. Here are the bones after 8 hours in slow cooker. My brother asked if I was selling, I informed him first customer free so he placed his order. Thanks Farm Boy!

Clean and fresh produce. The team working at this location is always pleasant to ask questions to and when checking out. Had an issue with one item I had bought and they helped make it right without any hassle.

I live in the neighborhood so this is my go-to grocery store. You can find pretty much everything here (only food though, there is no household items). BUT always pay attention to the expiry dates. I made a mistake and bought expired baby cereal. I had no issues in returning it back but there are still a whole bunch of expired cereal on the shelves (I attached photos). It is surprising that they sell outdated products, especially in baby food section :/

Had a negative experience today that I feel was pretty uncalled for. The staff were behind the till and I was approaching to checkout. They were laughing and carrying on which was completely fine, it’s good to see people enjoying themselves at work! The issue is when I politely smiled and said “hey, how’s your day going!” I was met with a very dirty look proceeded by an “up-down” glance and no reply. It was very off putting and made me feel uncomfortable and not welcome. Im not trying to break up the fun, just trying to pay and go and I wasn’t being rude at all. I would like to say there is one great clerk who wears glasses and I do not remember his name but he is always very kind. I’ve also spoken to the manager of the store as well who was very helpful and kind as well as the staff in the hot food section. This place would’ve been 5 stars if not for the negative experience today. It’s not hard to be kind!

Used to be my fav especially for the smashed apple and vanilla ice cream. But after the inflation, looks like they put too much glue inside both products and the quality is down. Only reason for three stars is I used to love it

Always check your receipt. I have consistently found errors! Cashiers need better training. Otherwise clean store and good produce.

Excellent food bar for grab and go Has kambutcha on tap Now the minus: no plastic bags only large paper bags so things get really tight and some things get squished. Some products aren't so fresh. For example, bread goes off sooner than similar product from Loblaws. Same with some of the fruits. Same with cheeses. Less variety, for example they only carry farm boy hummus only a single size available staff aren't very good at bagging groceries Staff aren't very good at preparing cold cuts Steaks are cut with tons of fat Watch those inflating prices!
