Fairmont Royal York

This is probably the best hotel I have had the pleasure of staying in. We spent a week in the Gold room floors and the experience from start to finish was just wonderful. The staff in the Gold Lounge in floor 18 were all extremely helpful, welcoming and kind. No request felt like too much for them and their willingness to help is something I've never encountered in a hotel before. Our room was lovely, very clean, everything looking well maintained and it all worked. The fridge and microwave request before we turned up was fulfilled and ready in our room. The provided room safe was free to use and easy to operate. If I had to fault anything about the rooms, it would be in the shower in the top left where there is visible flaking of the paint from the moisture. But this isn't obvious to spot and it tucked away at the very top. There was a huge supply of towels, 2 dressing gowns and slippers. The bedding was one of the most comfortable I have slept on in a hotel, feather duvet and a proper king sized matress. The bathroom as very fancy and the shampoos and shower smellies were refilled every single day. Speaking of that, every day the room was made perfect again, everything rearranged, tidied, and replenished. The mouthwash, towels and even putting our slippers neatly on the floor next to the bed. Room service each evening offering free water and bathroom top ups was a nice touch too. The Gold Lounge is just exceptional and the ability to just take what you want all day long is very generous. The staff were so great we even personally tipped some as we were remembered and provided extra service. Even the male chef came out to talk to me and we had a great chat. Food and drink was delicious, it's a shame they don't do baked beans in breakfast but we got our own and they heated them up for us! The pool area was good, 1 small kids one, a full sized one and a hottub. The hottub is very warm and after 15 minutes I had to get out to cool down. It was clean and maintained by a person at all times, and they even frequently took samples of the water to test the chemical levels. On one day there was an issue with the pools where the pumps had failed. So the pool was closed and all that was usable was the hottub, which was a shame but it got fixed by the next day. I could imagine if you had stayed for one night though, this would had been very frustrating. The only thing I would change is the sauna and steam rooms are sepreate for men/women within the fitting rooms which is a shame as I couldn't experience them with my partner. From top to bottom this hotel is classy and it made our holiday in Toronto even more special. Thank you to all the Gold Lounge staff.

Beautiful hotel with an unbeatable location, right across from Union station. Stayed here almost a week and the staff was very helpful, rooms and amenities were also great. Would definitely recommend Fairmont for a first class Toronto experience.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to stay here at all let alone paying the prices they charge. I stayed here as part of a work event 2 night and I might have gotten 6 hours sleep total. Walls and windows let all the noise through and elevators sound like there's a train going by. $16/day internet access, TV remote doesn't work, meeting room was cramped, AV tech never showed, breakfast supplied for meeting was gross, lunch was moderately better. I'm trying to figure out the good reviews and my mind is blown, low expectations I guess. Noteworthy details: Noise level in this hotel is higher than a budget motel on the highway.

It was my first stay at the Royal York and I was not disappointed. The staff is highly professional and they make you feel important as a guest, wherever you go and whatever you ask. I found the service embodied the perfect illustration of commitment at all stages. The architecture brings you back in time and grasps your attention throughout the whole of this venerable building. It is truly an experience I recommend. Rooms: The room was classy while being modern, but without losing its original "charme d'antan." Safety: I felt safe inside and around the hotel, which is an important aspect for me.

Great hotel with all the services you could possibly need. The staff was fantastic and accommodating. The room service and food was great. The bars are a good scene and have great live music. The valet service was excellent and the kids enjoyed the pool. It's near the transportation hub and many of the premier city attractions, I'll definitely be going back on my next trip to Toronto!

Absolutely incredible experience staying here for my birthday All the staff were so lovely and attentive, truly creating a lovely atmosphere. The room we had was so beautiful and had an amazing view of Union Station (which I've always loved). The food and drink from room service and the restaurants were amazing, so delicious and rich. With my husband on oxygen and walking isn’t great it was so nice to get away. The room was Beautiful and your Staff did a great job on it. Very clean and everything was in the room that we needed to make our stay great. It was special wearing the housecoat. All your Staff had Beautiful smiles wherever we met them and helpful when needed. The pool attendant was so helpful getting my husband up in the elevator with his walker. We are safely back home and would sure love to visit again. Thank you for the memories. We were warmly welcomed to your Beautiful Hotel right from the Doorman through to every Staff member we met. I have never encountered a hotel room where the sound from the adjacent room is so audible. I have no doubt that I could have had a full conversation with the person next door. I would like to share this first moment of my life with those reading my review. The sound in my video actually sounded even clearer.

Excellent hotel for our stay in Toronto to take in a Canes vs Maple Leafs game. Close to Scociaback Arena, restaurants and shopping. Rooms were very clean and neat. Everyone working there was awesome, especially David, our doorman. 3 awesome recommendations for breakfast, shoping and pregame dinner and drinks. We'll definitely be staying there again the next time we visit.

High end everywhere but the rooms. Very thin walls! Great location and very clean
