Epi's A Basque Restaurant

Where do I begin....we have been coming for years but since the new owners the food and service have dramatically taken a turn for the worse. Last time we came about a year ago, I was horribly sick for 2 days from the rice. We said we would never come back however, we were given a gift certificate for Christmas. We just came home after the worst meal and service in our lives, even Applebee's is better. Found a hair in my food, the server did nothing about it but to say no one has long hair that works in kitchen. The quality has gone way down. They changed the menu.. this is not Basque style good and I know because I've been to the Basque country and my family is from San Sebastian. When I told our sever about my previous rice experience that made me sick and asked for mashed potatoes I instead, they would not allow it. We spent $90 on a horrible meal and would rather go to McDonald's. Very sad.

First time there. Server was knowledgeable in all the dishes and gave excellent recommendations with just the right level of attentiveness. Ink squid was delicious and nothing what I expected- tender, rich flavor and dramatic presentation. Crusted halibut was cooked to perfection and a great mix of flavors. Was skeptical of the desserts but found the Gateau Basque to be a good blend of tart and sweet tastes with a creamy middle and solid crust.

Best Basque food in the Treasure Valley. Family atmosphere. Make sure you have a reservation.

Service was perfect, food was amazing, atmosphere was intimate but still bright and welcoming- not stuffy at all. We've been before pre-Covid, this was our first time back since and we went for my dads birthday, this was the perfect family birthday dinner for our group. I was able to text their number the day before we needed the reservation and they responded quickly to confirm. The quality of food is as good as my family remembers from before- fresh, generous portions, balanced but rich + complex flavors. Highly recommend the croquetas, calamari, chorizo, and the squid ink dish is unique but a must try- the flavor is so good and squid are tender.

I am overjoyed each time I eat here. The way they make you feel at home and a part of the family is so comforting. They even remember the way my wife an I enjoy our meals. Amazing. Top notch establishment. I will be going back... soon!!

Absolutely brilliant restaurant! From the friendly staff, to the warm ambiance and the incredible food. We enjoyed every dish. The croquettes are heavenly and the halibut was probably our favorite item. Will be back 100%

I ordered the tenderloin medallions and they had no seasoning at all. The cod my wife had was delicious. We have eaten here a few other times and it was amazing. Not going to fault them though. Great food!

Came in this evening with a gift card I recieved for Christmas from one of our employees. The atmosphere, food and staff were more than I could have hoped for. Find this hidden meridian gem and enjoy.
