On February 27, 2024, I wanted to get a seat on the subway on my return trip to Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn after consulting a doctor on the east side of midtown Manhattan. It was rush hour and I knew I would have to go uptown before proceeding downtown. Not knowing the best route home, I wound up at the 96th St. and 2nd Avenue subway station. I decided I needed a break so I exited the station and looked for a restaurant in which to rest up and eat and avoid some of the rush hour. Fortunately I found this excellent one. Since the restaurant was not busy, Carmine, the gracious manager, was also my waiter. We chatted while he served me the small meal that I requested, namely La Bufala Caprese and a Limoncello spritzer. The food was delicious and my conversation with Carmine was entertaining. The food and the conversation provided a much-needed respite from the travails of the rush-hour experience. By the time I re-entered the subway system the rush hour had abated and I was able to find a seat on each of the various subways lines that I needed to take in order to reach my home. Vegetarian options: I enjoyed the the vegetarian dish that I ordered.
