Ate here for the first time in six months last week. Definitely feel inflation here. Feels like the most expensive NP spot to eat. Food prices vs food portion is way off. Everything feels $2-$3 more than it should. Food was good but not great to offset the cost. Ordered the bread ($9), brussel sprouts ($16), and sliders ($14). I split this and could've ate it all myself to get full.
Located on University Avenue in the North Park neighborhood of San Diego, this restaurant offers inside seating, outside seating, and a pick up window for takeout. We wanted a late healthy lunch to go, so we ordered two Arugula salads that have grapefruit, corn, avocado, parmesan reggiano, and a honey vinaigrette. I arrived at the restaurant and noticed a sign that directed you away from the main entrance to the pick ip window for to go orders. I received kind service. The salads were fresh and delicious.
This was our second visit to this place, and once again, we were pleased with our choices. I particularly enjoyed the Cardiff tri-tip option—it adds a nice local touch to the menu, and the burger was exquisite! One thing that bothered me was the need to pay extra for fries instead of chips. While the fries were indeed really good, shouldn't a burger come with fries? The restaurant offers plenty of wine and beer selections, and the service was nice and attentive. However, despite sitting indoors, it was surprisingly cold, even with our jackets on! Overall, while I wouldn't give it a 5-star rating, I still recommend this place
Mac and cheese + grilled chicken was amazing
Everything was right with the service and vibe, but the food was disappointing. I got the fish and chips. The chips were regular, and the fish was sad and tasteless. The coleslaw was the only memorable thing. Overall, not worth the price (~ $25)
Great decor Service was OK (asked for extra cheese if it was not at a cost, then got charged) (waitress gives us sides options and we try truffle fries, ends up being an entire 15 dollars starter, we weren’t aware) (our friend waited an extra 10 mins for her food and server did not offer anything complimentary , even it was more fries or and extra side, for the inconvenience) Food was below average (Chicken fried trout had burnt broccolini, super tangy sauce, and fish similar looking/tasting to frozen cod fish) (Pork dish was decent) (Calamari had some tangy sweet n sour sauce?) (ahi tacos decent, nothing to brag about at 18 dollars) Thankfully they did not charge us for the trout and soju Bloody Mary. As my mother and her friend couldn’t even finish them. Was really hoping for a better experience, oh well! :/
Depressing place to spend $100 on bad frozen+thawed junk food
The food and service are always spectacular at Encontro! The one thing that keeps me from going here more often is the seating. I’ve never had a comfortable experience when dining here. Which bums me out because I could eat all of the homemade bread and Mac and Cheese otherwise!
