The main room is small and they put too many tables close together. It's terrible! Food is ok.
I’ve been going to Empire Szechuan for more than ten years. It is my go-to affordable restaurant in the Lincoln Center area. It’s not fancy or pretentious. I have never had a bad meal there and they have amazing vegan and vegetarian options. I really can’t stand the haters here who have given it subpar ratings! Don’t let them deter you from paying a visit!
This is the first review that I ever wrote because I usually don’t. This was the most disgusting meal I had this year. I ordered duck soup and it was bone soup. Both my girlfriend and I cut our mouths open because of the spiky bones. We both have stomach problems for many hours after. I usually love Chinese food but this was not edible. Do not go here unless you want to punish yourself. So sad to have wasted a meal at this place… never again…
Epitome of what we want in a Chinese restaurant. Dumplings pretty darn close to perfect. Ultimate secret is the roast pork bun. Last place you can get one now on the uws since Ollie’s stopped making them. Yum!
I would give a zero star if I can. THE WORST Chinese food I ever had in my entire life. The dumplings skin are so thick - I think they can handle the criticism. The so-called "Chinese/Japanese" cuisine served here lacks any semblance of authenticity. It seems like they've taken a few generic ingredients and thrown them together, completely missing the mark on genuine flavors. The dishes were bland, tasteless, and left me questioning whether the chef had ever actually tasted authentic Chinese food.
Probably the worst General Tso I've had in my life. Had zero sweetness to it and instead was soggy and tasted like oyster sauce. Horrible, had to throw it out.
