A friend came to visit Austin, and one of the places we checked out was here. We went on a Saturday night, late - around 7:45pm, and they were still busy. We probably waited 45min to an hour, but the time went by quickly. We sat in their outdoor seating area and ordered some salsa, queso dip, and a mocktail.. and everything was delicious. I think they're known for their salsa spread, but we were in love with their queso dip. Honestly, after munching on the tortilla Chips and getting a refill, we were starting to get full. So, by the time we got seated, we ended up ordering one enchilada plate (their portions are huge) and we still had leftovers (about half leftover) that we ended up taking to go. Their enchilada was good - we ordered their Rene's Awesome Enchiladas. Even though we were full, we still ordered dessert, because why not? We got their donuts (which came in 4) and they were so good with the jam!! I have a sweet tooth, so the donuts were my favorite out of everything, then the queso dip.

21 bucks, what a rip-off. Not shown: two small tortillas and a thimble full of beans.

A favorite spot of ours for several years for breakfast, brunch, and dinner. Did a lot of takeout with them during the pandemic. Good consistently good and service always friendly.

....when in Austin. Sis in law is an Austin foodie with a serious knowledge of the local cuisine. With the burrito place that we wanted closed until mid-February, she remembered a recommendation from a friend that used to live in the neighborhood: El Dorado. This place was PACKED on a Saturday night around dinner....and for good reason. The restaurant was lively. People laughing, waiters smiling, music in the background all contributed to a really cool vibe. With the place being so crowded, we decided to order a drink and wait for a table... Soon a spot for our party of 3 opened at the bar and we snacked on chips, queso, and salsa. The appetizer came out fast and was delicious. The queso was filled with delicious ground beef, and the salsas were out of this world. We had another drink, and before we knew it we were seated at our table. My brother ordered the El Dorado burrito and i ordered the Las Cruces Plate and we cut in half and shared. So much food, so much flavor. Sis got the enchiladas and gave me a sample and they were up there with the best I've had. We had the avocado salsa and the "Salsa X" Both were INCREDIBLE! The salsa X was special! The avocado salsa was everything I could hope for. The staff was fast and friendly. The only gripe....... The salsas for the table came out in a tiny, "personal" size cup. We had to share out of these tiny cups and it was not ideal. The queso bowl, although very tasty, was pretty small and we ate through it pretty fast. But .... We will be going back. . and I can't wait to share this place with more of my loved ones that enjoy good Mexican food.

1:30pm on a Sunday for 2- took 40 mins to get a table, but that's what we expected. Got the SalsaX as the free table salsa. Smokey chipotle salsa, not too spicy.Got the Supa Chalupa and the Santa Rosa taco- oh my lord they were both so good! 100% worth the wait, and I'll have the exact same order next time I'm here.

3.75 starsLemon chicken was tasty. Staff were very nice. I don't know what the fuck was up with the delicious sounding tres leches peach bread pudding. Didn't eat 1/2. Queso was like water and the chips were almost stale. I will go back and skip the queso and try a different dessert. However, I'm not sure it's worth waiting over 30 mins. It's not THAT special.

A friend and I tried Eldorado Cafe last week and had a decent meal, with pretty good service. The place was absolutely slammed - we picked a heck of a night to try them. They had a surprise party of 22, then several other bigger parties. While those parties were finishing up when we got there, it was still a 30-45 minute wait. We decided to wait, along with several other people, and were seated in about 30. We spoke with one of the hostesses/waitresses and she was really nice..very personable and friendly.

Their space is really nice - with a mix of tables and chairs, and a decent sized waiting area inside. It is nicely decorated and has a comfortable atmosphere - and I believe I saw some big lounge type chairs in back which is pretty cool.

Once seated, our waitress was generally pretty great - although we waited quite a while for our Eldorado queso, and really didn't get enough time to enjoy it before our meals came. While we were happy to get our meals quickly, as we had been waiting a half hour to be seated, queso time is important, too. The queso and chips themselves, however, were above average, we really liked them. Their house salsa was also fantastic.

On to the food - I ordered the Carnitas Cubanos. The pork was really good - think hashbrown style... crispy grilled on both sides. While the flavor was there, this dish was in desperate need of a sauce or some cheese. Even with stellar beans and rice, it was dry and lacking. My friend ordered the Hongos and seemed fairly pleased with her meal. We topped it off with splitting the generously portioned skillet cherry pie - which was amazing.

I'm giving three stars, (read as 3.5) for a pretty good first experience with room for improvement. I'll definitely be coming back again and I'm sure they'll improve. Thanks!

A down to earth no frills community Mexican café. Yes! They serve breakfast through dinner every day (except Monday they are closed). Came here recently for brunch. Waited 20 minutes and then was able to get a seat at the bar. This was the lowest wait time since we have attempted to eat at this new spot. Previously the wait times were over 45 minutes, and they don't take reservations. There is a cute little seating area available which is nice. While the space is not large, they have done a good job of creating an open seating environment that is cozy, artistic (love the diverse colors), and inviting. This is a casual family friendly eating establishment. The service was incredibly friendly and I felt immediately at home. They have an extensive menu of interesting items, even for breakfast. My husband tried the Freddy's plate, and I tried the papas breakfast taco on corn. I also had a side of fruit, and my husband snagged the last biscuit in the house as a side. The breakfast taco was delicious. The egg was cooked to perfection. It is one of the best breakfast tacos I have had. The bacon was crisp and flavorful just like I like. My husband's plate was flavorful and tasty as well. The husband said the biscuit was good. The fruit bowl was incredible! I have never seen such a heaping side of fruit. It was fresh and delicious. My husband's Bloody Mary was OK and my Sandanista with fresh watermelon Aqua Fresca was sweet but refreshing. The food is decently priced and tasty for brunch. We will need to come back for lunch and dinner.

A friend and I decided to try this place last Friday. There was an hour wait so we decided to sit at the bar and have a margarita. But ... most of the bar stools were occupied by small children! The parents were nearby and obviously waiting for tables but when I asked two different bartenders whether this was even legal, they only shrugged their shoulders. This is obviously not a place to go for just a drink! (There is a waiting area at the front and it was nearly empty so the families could have waited there.) When we did get dinner the service was good. The food is not inexpensive and the quality was spotty but I'll give it another chance since they've only been open 2 weeks. I just hope they'll make their bar into a grownup area!
