El Sombrero

Oof, where to begin. Freezing cold inside, and some of the worst food I've ever tasted. The chicken must have come from a can straight to the grill with no seasoning. I cannot recommend in good conscience. The one server there was quite friendly at least.

Great location, service, and food. Wait-staff was attentive and courteous.

As a Texas-raised couple on a cruise to AK, we were skeptical and would have walked right by except that we grew up in a town with a restaurant named El Sombrero. This gem of a place should be a must-eat location! The salsa came out with great flavor, thick, and not tomatoey. Since it was lunch, we skipped apps and went straight for entrees. The hits kept coming when the tortilla soup came out! Face-tingling, head-sweating warmth of a soup was presented in short order. We will be getting more of this on a return trip! Entrees were beef fajitas and tres enchiladas. We will pass on the fajitas next time as we prefer our beef grilled then sliced and placed as the dish comes out. Just not fans of the pre-sliced beef. The enchiladas were outstanding! She preferred the cheese as it reminded her of growing up on Texas while I leaned in harder on the chicken enchilada. Beans and rice were on point and we hated to not bring all of it back to the boat!
