If you want real northern Mexican /Border Mexican home cooked food this is a good place to come. Old fashioned Tex -ex style and nice welcoming family atmosphere..Not fancy but its the real deal
Best Mexican food in the area.
We have been coming here for lunch or dinner for probably more than 15 years. The food is consistently good and reasonably priced and the staff is friendly and attentive.
Give el Salto a try - you won't be sorry you did.
8/4/23 update
Still very good. They've done some remodeling including aging done outdoor seating along both sides. Looks like they have both electric heat and ceiling fans available so it could be useful through more of the year. But we've yet to see it in use since it was completed.
the food was great. a friend recommended that i try one of the dishes here. it was excellent. the prices were very fair. it beats going to taco bell. the atmosphere was also very nice. very clean!
Locals have been telling me to go since I've moved here. I'll be honest, it was pretty good. Full disclosure: I used to live in Oklahoma and was spoiled with authentic and amazing Mexican and TexMex, so my bar is somewhat high.
I went during off peak hours, around 3pm. As a result, I was literally the only table there until I was about to leave. The service was great, and the building was clean. As for what you're really interested in, the food, it was good.. but I guess the things people had told me set my expectations much too high. I got the "stuffed jalapenos" which I was expecting would be like fresh stuffed jalapenos but were actually just frozen and fried jalapeno poppers. The complimentary chips and salsa was good - chips were fresh and crunchy and the salsa tasted very fresh. I also got the combination fajitas - chicken and steak. It came out on a sizzling platter and the presentation was good. It came with three tortillas, and a side of guac, sour cream, lettuce, and refried beans. No pico, which was unexpected. The sides were fresh and tasty. The meat and veggies were good as well, though a little overcooked.
And finally, I got a jalapeno margarita. I'm not going to lie.. it was the star of the show and couldn't have really been any better. It was amazing and included fresh sliced jalapenos.
I don't mean for this all to sound so negative, it was really good all around. As I mentioned before, I came in with the wrong expectations. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone if you're looking for fresh, delicious, tex mex that hits the spot. Just keep in mind this is more chain type food rather than authentic.
If you walk here hungry somethings wrong. Eat here all the time. Today was first time my daughter came with me she loves it.
The service was great. The portions are worth the price. Great atmosphere.
I do not recommend the food. I didn’t really like it. It seemed like the food was over cooked. When we went, it wasn’t busy and it wasn’t too lively. However, it could have been what I ordered. I will try it again and provide an update.
The food was amazing and our waitress was very nice. The chips and queso are to die for! 5 stars.
La comida estaba tan dura q bi comer se podía el pollo reseco duro no no me deseocionaron la verdad
The food here is excellent, I got the carne asada this time but have had their burritos and street tacos previously. The service is good. The atmosphere is family friendly but nice enough for a casual date. Prices are very reasonable and the margarita was the size of my head.
