El Sabor de mi Tierra

As a Dominican person, I apologize to anyone who has eaten at this poor excuse of a restaurant and I warn anyone thinking about eating here to STAY AWAY!!! This place should NOT be open to serve food. The pictures lie. Rather, the food resembles jailhouse slop. This place is dark and grungy looks like it doubles as a bar at night. At a glance, The kitchen seems dirty! My fiancé and I stopped here on our trip to Columbus as we were starving after coming off the flight and it was the low light of our entire stay. I had doubts regarding the food quality but gave them the benefit of the doubt…I wish I hadn’t. We ordered white rice, beans, ensalada de papa(potato salad), “pollo guisado” and bistec encebollado because…how can you mess up such a classic Dominican recipe. Apparently, these cooks figured out how. My rice was not fresh and my “pollo guisado” was repurposed fried chicken that was microwaved in tomato sauce and onions. I took one bite and found it absolutely disgusting. The beans and the bistec were old and The potato salad tasted like bad cole slaw. The food served at this establishment is not representative of Dominican food, at all. I’ve eaten at countless Dominican restaurants throughout the US and this is hands down the worst one I’ve eaten at yet. Como dominicano, pido disculpas a cualquiera que haya comido en este pobre restaurante y le advierto a cualquiera que esté pensando en comer aquí que ¡¡¡ALÉJATE!!! Este lugar NO debe estar abierto para servir comida. Las fotos mienten. Más bien, la comida se parece a la basura de la cárcel. Este lugar es oscuro y sucio, parece que también funciona como bar por la noche. De un vistazo, ¡la cocina parece sucia! Mi prometido y yo nos detuvimos aquí en nuestro viaje a Columbus porque nos moríamos de hambre después de bajar del vuelo y había poca luz durante toda nuestra estadía. Tenía dudas sobre la calidad de la comida pero les di el beneficio de la duda… Ojalá no lo hubiera hecho. Pedimos arroz blanco, frijoles, ensalada de papa, pollo guisado y bistec encebollado porque cómo estropear una receta dominicana tan clásica. Al parecer, estos cocineros descubrieron cómo hacerlo. Mi arroz no estaba fresco y mi “pollo guisado” era pollo frito reutilizado calentado en el microondas con salsa de tomate y cebolla. Le di un mordisco y lo encontré absolutamente repugnante. Los frijoles y el bistec estaban viejos. La ensalada de patatas sabía a ensalada de repollo en mal estado. La comida que se sirve en este establecimiento no es representativa de la comida dominicana en absoluto. He comido en innumerables restaurantes dominicanos a través de los EU y este es sin duda el peor en el que he comido hasta ahora.

Food was delicious. We were looking for mofongo after we had gone to Puerto Rico last year. So good!

I came with a group (about 8 people). The music was so loud that we had to shout in the waitresses ear just to order. My friends and I couldn't even talk to each other. We asked them if they could turn it down and it seemed like it kept getting louder. And my food wasn't good. It didn't taste fresh
