I use to absolutely love this place. After the service I received today, I won't be back. I ordered a chimichanga for pickup. They didn't put the queso in my order. When I called, they said I didn't get the queso because they told me it would be ready in 10 minutes & my delivery driver came in 40 minutes! Wait what? She argued with me as of how I was in the wrong! She finally says I can come get another one, but I tried explaining I was at work. She didn't want my name or any info. When I gave her my name, she only acted like she was writing it down. When I asked her to repeat my name back to me, she couldn't. My husband went & picked up another chimichanga. After looking at the white liquid that had a watery something that was separating from the cheese, I threw it away. I use to be a general manager at a Mexican restaurant, I've never seen queso do that. She ruined this place for me!

Best in town for a fair price

Food is not authentic Mexican. It's more of a Guatemalan style. Go to South Texas and eat some real Mexican food. It's good for what it is. Parking: Parking is plentiful.

Food is not bad but I ordered a side of queso/chips with my to go order and when I got home and saw it wasn't included in my bag I called to let them know and ask that I be refunded for it and suddenly he couldn't speak English anymore. I don't recommend

Always good. You can pay more at other restaurants but you won't beat the food at El Portal.

So so.... don't expect much

Service was excellent. I had El pastor (pork) and didn't like it. The quality wasn't great, I haven't been before so I had nothing to compare. It was made with pineapple and I don't understand the pineapple. Also, my meal was small compared to a fajita plate but it was the same price. No tortillas served with it or anything. It was still great service, very attentive and I'm willing to try again.

Authentic Mexican cuisine with a very helpful staff and a nice atmosphere. I eat here often and have never had a bad experience. The salsa is top notch and the specials are not only affordable but delicious. Parking: Open parking in a large lot. Not difficult to park at all. Wheelchair accessibility: Ground level with a ramp at entrance.
