The owner’s beautiful wife came into our nail salon and appreciated her service so much so came by the next morning to drop us off some of her amazing food from el coqui. Her generous offer was able to let all of our workers get a taste and everyone loved it. As someone from the bronx, the taste brought me back home. Fluffy and flavorful rice. Pernil was tender. Chicken was also tender and flavorful. The yuca with picked onions were the cherry on top. God bless his beautiful wife and his amazing cooking skills. Will be coming to visit soon. Thank you so much!
Best overall experience I’ve had at a food truck in Austin. Amazing music & service. Food was even better. Haven’t had Puerto Rican food this good since I left NY.
We went on a non busy day so it was perfect. Great authentic Puerto Rican food. I had fried pork chunks and it was delicious. Garlic sauce was great as well. Its located in a small food truck spot and very limited parking, but they have a few outdoor tables with umbrellas. Not related to this food truck but in the same spot was a chiba dispensary which is odd and sick at the same time. Highly recommend El Coqui tho.
Overpriced and they never have any food in stock. Told us mofongo was 30 minutes so we did not order it thinking it would be less wait time. 40 minutes pass by to get our food at that point we wouldve gotten it with mofongo !!! Update: The dude that works there always got an attitude. Why else would we be asked “The mofongo is going to take 30 minutes, is that okay?” and we said NO. I suppose it is an ADDITIONAL 30 minutes on top of the 40 min ??? He should’ve clarified. We also literally saw someone order after us get their food first. The food isnt worth it, portions are small.
Fantastic Puerto Rican food and very friendly service.
Good food, good portions. The carne frita could be better.
