Dining at El Naranjo is an exquisite experience! The service and food never disappoint. And the moles.....imaginative and delectable. The assortment of plant based dishes is so delicious. El Naranjo is a star above the rest.
Food was good, wait staff mostly attentive except returning the credit card with our check out receipt. It was missing for a significant amount of time and we could see the staff as they realized the problem and then scrambled to find it.
Fantastic authentic food inspired by Mexico City! Great for gluten free and vegan. Reservation required!
The flavors on all of the dishes here are amazing. You cannot go wrong with anything you order. It's a little pricey but definitely worth it.
The Enmoladas was good. Also, de chilaquiles rojos, note my GF from Spain thinks they are hot, but for me Mexican where medium hot. Just add avocado;) and ask for more Sour cream.
The atmosphere and service were wonderful. Highlights of dinner were the fantastic basque cheesecake, tiramisu and the Mexican martinis. My Tamarindo tasted like watered down bottled lime juice with Tajin. We got the octopus and potatoes for an appetizer, pescado al sere and cochinita pibil for our main entrees. Pescado al sere: halibut was slightly overcooked, plantain fritter was so hard it was painful for us to chew, the sauce lacked depth of flavors. Cochinita pibil - pork was perfectly tender and delicious but we both thought the pickled onion and cabbage slaw could have a little bit more of a punch. Overall food was mediocre, good but not enough to warrant a come back or a must visit in Austin
The mole negro and mole blanco were absolutely delicious. We will visit again when we are back in Austin!
They don't appreciate customers. I've had better service at Chipotle. The atmosphere was better than Chipotle, but with the rude service I'd probably be happier at Chipotle. They acted like they were the gate keepers of Mexican cuisine. I left unconvinced.
