There's a group of Seattleites who have moved here from the southwest who feel obligated to complain about the lack of authentic Mexican food in the city. If you count yourself among that group, I would encourage you to try El Catrin. The food here is not from a Sysco truck--i.e., overly cheesy protein + refried beans + rice =$20. Instead, you're going to find something akin to homemade--braised meats, sauces made in-house, flavors enhanced by spice and heat. It's just all exceptional. And in no way pretentious.
The interior is functional and the staff are friendly. The food arrives faster than you would expect the quality would allow. It's just good food.
I've ordered delivery from El Catrin more than a handful of times and it's always been great food, however, the last delivery was a mess. In one small container 8 tacos were stuffed in, all of them squashed and with broken tortillas. :/
I get it if you are trying to optimize packaging for delivery, kudos on that, but one thing is trying to reduce packaging and another one is being cheap, don't be cheap, ruins your customer's meal.

update: I was pleased to hear back from the owners that they'll take steps to prevent it from happening in the future.
This is my second pilgrimage to El Catrin. I ordered mulitas with carnitas. The carnitas had been crisped up yielding a great Maillard reaction. Crispy, tender, and so porky! The housemade salsa verde and roja were just the right topping - spicy but not too spicy. I'll be back for sure!
This is the place where you should to get ‘tacos de guisado’. I have been looking for good tacos in Seattle and finally found them. All the guisados were delicious, they come with a lot of filling and the homemade salsas were amazing, you should try their habanero salsa. I also had ‘café de olla’ and it took me back to Mexico. And at the end the cook came by and gave us a free buñuelo for dessert. The service was great and they are super friendly. It’s dangerous that I have finally found this place.
Went for the pozole we heard about, but they were out, so we had birria and rockfish tacos. Outstanding! Super grub, and can't wait to go back. People were so friendly too!
Very cozy, authentic Mexican restaurant. Feels like a hidden gem.
Best Mexican in White Center area. Volcanes, Huastecas, Carnitas plate, Sopes, etc. Superb!
A wonderful family owned and ran place for some authentic Mexican food. Very friendly and accommodating staff.
