Downtown Louisiana Tamale Shop LLC

I saw this place on the news, so I thought that I would give it a try. First time here. I arrived around 115pm to a handwritten sign in the window, "BRB out for deliveries." There's a smaller sign that said, "order online, call, or text your order." I placed the order online for 3 mild beef tamales and regular fries. I received a text that it would be ready around 224pm. I was disappointed with the presentation and taste of everything. The fries were hand-cut, dark brown, and no seasoning. The 3 small tamales were in a watery greasy foil wrapping; which hid the meatloaf tasting tamales. The masa was moist, but the meat seasoning was off (no cilantro, onion, cumin, green chilles, etc.)! I thought that I was eating loose meat meatloaf without the tomato sauce on top; heavy on the bell peppers. The price was $14 total for everything. There wasn't anything authentic about the tamales other than the masa. I can at least say that I tried it, but it won't be another chance for me. I applaud the effort and courage to open up a brick and mortor establishment.

Darrin and Joy, the owners, are very friendly, gracious, down to earth people. Tamales were great. I will order 2 orders of tamales just for myself next time and my husband will too. My husband enjoyed his hot tamales. Very, very tasty.

The Food was amazing! I had the beef tamales with chilli alot of meat seasonings hitting tamales melt in your mouth with I had 4-5 I would have slammed but I got the three piece atmosphere is your car can’t wait till they open up dine in will be coming back for more worth the wait

Have to call for order, not an in dining hall. We got a goodie bag from Too Good To Go. Small tamales covered in pinto beans and undercooked rice. It made my husband throw up after eating. Will not be going back.

Was invited to a Hot Tamale brunch at my sister’s house. She purchased them from Downtown Louisiana Shop. These were the best Tamales. She ordered some hot beef ones for me because I love spicy food. The heat was spot on. I got all the contact information from my sister because I will definitely be ordering again. This place is a MUST try.
