I recently ate here with a large work group. While we had to wait an hour plus (no reservations), it was worth it. Both the food quality and service were exceptional.
It is worth the wait and high price. This is the most authentic Chinese food I’ve had in the Bay, as in, you would get served this stuff in China. Highly recommended.
Was there for my birthday celebration. Great food, vegetarian options available.
Last visited pre pandemic. Happened to goto Valley fair and check how long it would be. It was 3.5 hrs for walk up for a table. Luckily it was only 330pm at the time so it worked out perfectly for dinner at 630. The wait times are ridiculous even for a Saturday. The food was great but the Xiao long bao were not as hot as they used to be. Either they got dinged for it being too hot or it was just an off night. Or maybe they figured out if it isn't that hot people will eat it faster and not linger. We got Xiao long bao, regular and with crab. The crab was good but minimal difference in taste. Spicy wonton were good but didn't pack as much heat as before. Toned down also which is a shame as the sauce used to be so good that I would add it to the fried rice. The chicken fried rice and chicken noodle stir fry were both good and the same as we remembered. The red bean dumpling dessert was nice and warm. The meal overall was as good as we remember and definitely want to return. The service was good and everyone was attentive. As part of the lunar new year celebration they handed out some red envelopes for year of the dragon with a certificate for free tofu appetizer on your next visit. The red envelope was nice and looked like it took some effort to put together. Definitely wish there was a Din Tai Fung closer to SF.
