Deliciosos Tacos de Canasta

Tacos de canasta. Authentic homemade street form of taco also known by tacos al vapor. the process is to prepared the freshly made tortillas on hot chili oil that gets filled with potatoes, beans, chorizo, or your choice of protein, when making you fold the tacos in half, stack them on a basket lined with wax paper and covering with a cloth and a plastic bag, this way the tortilla gets soft by the Steam created in the basket kept warmed for hours. They get served 7 different ways at this place and come with salsa and shredded cabbage. There are three seats if you want to eat at the tent or take home. There are two dollars each. There are a few taco de canasta restaurants in San Jose and I find that this is the only tacos de canasta eatery that serves this kind of tacos in San Francisco.

I've seen this stand a few times walking down 24th st and finally grabbed a few tacos this morning—delicious! I tried the potato, bean, and chicken mole, and will go back for more asap. Perfect for a quick bite in the morning :)

Legit Breakfast Tacos! Ya gotta try them! Growing up in Mexico City, I'm familiar with the famous Tacos de Canasta, traditionally eaten in the morning/early afternoon. They're a staple in Mexico City. So, I felt really lucky but a bit skeptical of this humble taco stand. Anyway, I gave them a try and they're tasty. I moved into the neighborhood 2 weeks ago and I've been there 3 times already. My husband really likes them as well. The only reason why we don't show up every morning it's because they're not healthy, and they're not trying to be! The chicharron tacos are a delicious treat that is fast, flavourful and will keep you going through the day.

These guys are the best. I really enjoyed the pollo. That salsa is too good.

I haven’t had tacos de Canasta in about 14 years. I saw someone post about them and went to seek them out, completely worth it!! They were very good, had different kinds of tacos and salsa. Cash only and they are there Monday - Saturday (I asked) starting at 9AM with varying end times. Located on 24th and Folsom every time (also asked) Delicious, 10/10 Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular
