Dakota Hotel Glasgow

Always like the Dakota. Nice rooms, great restaurant and brilliant bar. The chateaubriand last night was the best steak we have had in ages and excellent value. It's a bit hemmed in at the moment by roadworks, but not really a show stopper. Staff helpful and friendly. We will be back.

Our stay on the 6th April started wonderfully with a smooth and welcoming check-in experience, setting a high standard for hospitality. The afternoon spent at the hotel's bar was just as delightful, thanks to the friendly and attentive staff, creating a perfect atmosphere for relaxation and delicious cocktails. However, our positive experience took a downturn later in the evening. Returning to the hotel at 12:20AM, we were not greeted by the on duty receptionist, however, we inquired about the bar's availability. The receptionist's brusque reply that we had only 40 minutes left felt unwelcoming. This unwelcoming atmosphere continued at the bar, where the staff's reminders of the impending closure lacked the warm hospitality we had experienced earlier. Despite being given menus, the absence of service for 15 minutes led us to leave by 12:35 AM. Making our way back to our room, the interaction, or lack thereof, with the receptionist and his colleague, who merely stared as we entered the lift, was cold and impersonal. This shift in the quality of service was unexpected and disappointing, particularly given the Dakota Hotel's well-reviewed reputation. Unfortunately, the unwelcoming end to our evening has led us to decide not to return, overshadowing the otherwise excellent service and ambiance we initially received.

Exceptional in all ways possible. We had the warmest welcome from the reception desk and were even more impressed by the room. Stunning decor, quality furnishings and so peaceful! The restaurant staff went out of their way to provide a wonderful birthday dinner. Complimentary treats provided since it was a special occasion; a lovely touch! The food was out of this world; a nicer steak hasn’t been had in a long time. The cocktail bar was a great space to wind down at night with many fantastic cocktails to choose from; our favourite being ‘Jack Jung’, highly recommended! If you’re looking for a few nights away and want to treat yourself, The Dakota is the perfect option. It’s swanky and luxurious but not at all pretentious like some of these types of places can be.

I travel to Glasgow for work regularly and won’t stay anywhere else now. The rooms are so comfortable and clean, the bar and restaurant are both great and the service is first class (Jordan on the front desk is fantastic). If I’m staying anywhere, I’ll look if there’s a Dakota nearby. Can’t recommend them enough.
