Cuddlefish

I've visited this omakase bar 4 times. The first two visits were great, the third okay and this last time it's a no for me. They are closing this location in a few days so I'm going them grace. But the quality defiqenr down the closer its gotten to closing. I'm still looking forward to visiting Brush and the new Cuddlefish location in 2024. Still at the top of my list for omakase sushi in Atlanta.

The omakasa was an experience to remember. We were truly appreciative of the quality of the fish and the service. Would highly recommend.

We had came for the happy hour menu advertised on tiktok, and the food was subpar, wait times were long despite having only 3 tables in the restaurant at a time, and the “miscommunication “ was way too much. Orders were served wrong, punched in without asking or warning us and our bill was messed up twice. The manager had misled us about the 3 for 20 temaki deal and told us to go ahead and eat the food and that he would take care of what was accidentally put in, only to not take care of it, comp the cheapest roll, so that we still had to pay 15 dollars more than what we should have and we did not receive the deal at all which was our concern. We just paid and left because the miscommunication was too much and they had said “there was nothing they could do” well then warn and talk to your table before you do all these random things like ordering extra food if you can’t reverse the mistakes. The money was no issue it was the not communicating and misleading. The hand rolls are also not worth even the happy hour price to begin with.

There is nothing to complain about when it comes to the food. Especially, the freshness of the sushi rice and sashimi is of the highest level in Georgia. The servers are also friendly, but the issue lies with the timing. I got the impression that this restaurant doesn't value their customers' time. We had to wait around 30 minutes since we walked in. And it took almost 1.5 hours until we finished our meal. However, even when we were finishing our meal, nearly half of the tables that were originally empty remained vacant. I don't understand why we had to wait for 30 minutes. However, because the food was so delicious, we placed a takeout order for the next day. We ordered at 6:05 PM and scheduled the pickup for 7:15 PM. We arrived for the pickup at 7:35 PM, but had to wait an additional 15 minutes to receive the food at around 7:50 PM even though they had over 1.5 hours to prepare the food. While waiting, I observed the chefs preparing the food in a very casual manner, chewing gum and chatting with their colleagues, slowly making the sushi. It was nice to see them enjoying their work, but it gave the impression that they didn't consider the customers' time. If the system improves, it could be a really great restaurant.

My fiancé and I had such a wonderful date night at Cuddlefish with Dave. Dave (whose name we couldn’t remember so we were calling him Dominic in our heads) was so charming and witty and soft spoken and we loved him. They were very careful about our allergies (read: Dave made sure there was NO tree nut contamination to be found). The sushi course was so fun to read about and savor, and was filling too. The only con was that there was another couple there trying to flirt with Dave (fka Dominic), which threatened us. But Dave still made us feel special. Cuddlefish, you’re pretty great. Miso soup is the best way to end the meal. We love you Dave xoxo

I went back twice in 10 days!!! Cuddlefish is my newest obsession. Lol. I love the attention to detail and the care that was taken. Everything that I have had has been delicious. A must for true sushi lovers or culinary adventurists that want to try something new. I appreciated both of my experiences, and what I observed let me know that these people are in the care of the business they’re in, and it shows in the food and the details taken to curate their menu. The energy is so warm and welcoming. During my second visit, a gentleman came in, not dressed for an interview, not dressed to apply for a job. The person at the host stand was so nice and accommodating he went out of his way to provide him with an email address to him to send his résumé, and he did not have to do that. He could’ve asked him to leave. He could’ve asked him to leave. I savored both of my experiences, and what I observed let me know that these people are in the care of the business they’re in, and it shows in the food and the service.
