Got the huevo rancheros. Meh. Chips (actually whole fried tortillas) and salsa were neat. Back patio is nice
I’m a fellow tapatía and was excited to get a torta ahogada. I was deeply disappointed by all the buzz. Sadly, we waited over 25 minutes and not even water was offered. I’d understand if the restaurant was full but that wasn’t the case. I can’t speak about the food but the service and the premises were highly miserable. I understand the owners are trying to convey a vibe from GDL but I think the premises look really unprofessional. The decor is lame for the NY restaurant scene, not reflective of GDL. Some spray paint on the wall in the patio doesn’t cut it. Instead, I walked to a French venue down the road and had a very pleasant experience — and I’m not even a fan of French food. Wouldn’t recommend this restaurant unless they improve their service. If you make excuses for your poor service because your restaurant is up and coming, you’re just not professional enough.
these tacos make me happy and the beef stew is a miracle
This place is a tiny hole in the wall, but super solid food and friendly service. The fried plantains were unexpectedly a standout dish, the torta and tacos were super flavorful, and the churros hit the spot to top off a fantastic meal.
My wife and I came here for lunch this past Saturday and we loved it. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious. We got a few tacos, a quesadilla, birria, a torta and a tequila flight, We also had a custard type dessert with a coffee based dessert cocktail. We sat at the bar and had a blast. The bartender was super friendly and informative on anything we had questions about. Watching him craft the cocktails was an experience in itself. We will definitely be back.
