I would recommend not going to this restaurant if you have a disability and service dog, or care for someone does. ****Update to this review base the owner’s response: Please see the picture below of our service dog, an alert dog that weighs less than 20 pounds and is the sweetest thing, that they are now claiming jumped on someone. At NO POINT did the dog jump on anyone, that is a complete lie and shows your level of dishonesty. If that is the case, please upload video. Upon two minutes of entry into the restaurant, your manager came out yelling about the dog for no reason and did not even have the class to speak in a low voice when inquiring about someone’s disability. We were even approached by other customers outside telling us they felt awful for how we were treated. The part of your story that is correct, is we tried to continuously point out the tags to show your manager he was a service dog and that it wasn’t her place to loudly inquire about someone’s disability but instead your manager wanted to yell and interrogate why we needed a service dog. Although we know you’re not allowed to request the tags, we were offering them as a good faith effort to try to mitigate the situation which common sense would tell most people to take the person seriously. When your manager refused to seat us, my husband and I did tell your manager that she was violating the ADA, and that could result in legal implications. And yes, we do know that is the case because my sister is a federal prosecutor and a number members of our family are attorneys, including one specializes in ADA, and we have managed a disability for years. Instead of spending time, claiming you have reach out to your attorney, I recommend you spend time training your staff and learning how to properly respond to a serious customer issue. This was truly a classless incident, and a dishonest and disgraceful response. Your manager was right, she said you wouldn’t care, and that speaks volumes. We get the point, service dogs are not welcome in your establishment, therefore people with disabilities cannot have support they need in your restaurant. Original post: The manager at this restaurant is extremely unprofessional. She denied my party the ability to dine at the restaurant because we had a service dog, and that service dog was tagged clearly and had no behavior issue. Upon entry, she came to the front immediately yelling and questioning the legitimacy of our service dog which was very embarrassing in front of other customers. I tried to gracefully point out the tagging on the dog. She clearly does not understand what it’s like to live with a disability and lacked class in navigating the situation. When I asked about speaking to the owner, she said good luck, they will just agree with me. And maybe she’s right, the owner might lack understanding as well but I wouldn’t know, as my request was clearly not passed along to the owner. She also made a bizarre comment, telling us that we were being filmed, as if we were committing a crime having a service dog with us, and trying to explain to why her approach violated the ADA and she could be more tactful in a private matter. Furthermore, my husband and I live right around the corner from the restaurant and we have shared this experience with multiple people on the our block, and some of them had similar experiences with her unprofessional behavior. These are all people who would be regular returning revenue customers. Very disappointing as we hope this would be a go to place. If the owner is reading this, I highly recommend you provide training to your manager and staff or consider removing her from the position if she cannot manage her emotions and actions in a professional manner.
