Commissary Naval Base San Diego

1991 Navy Bootcamp in San Diego. I think I bought stuff here, lol.

Got expired drinks by the register that clearly do not get rotated. Might want to check your expired dates on all drinks.

Good selection and prices.

I have pretty steady experience at this store because I work on base and it is convenient to me, although... UGH: there is seldom such a thing as a quick 5 minutes stop at the commissary, not because it's any busier than any other grocery store, but because some of the workers are straight up incompetent. Perfect example today: quick stop to get 13 items. Line moved pretty quickly at the 20 or less fast checkout, until one of my items didn't scan and needed additional assistance. One of the people who supposedly is at that cash register to assist people who have issues very reluctantly makes her way over to me after an intense staring sesh (from me). She finally gets to me as if she'd rather stub her pinky tor than helping me. When prompted to enter her ID info, she freezes and and leaves mumbling something under her breath. Didn't say anything else. So, I have to make my way to her to let her know, hey I still need help. So I go and I tell her to just remove the item from my list. She comes back with the same attitude and same outcome. Meanwhile, someone else AFTER ME came up in the self register next to mine and can't scan her ID to start the transaction ...I keep on waiting. Finally a young fellow replaces the lady with the miserable attitude and goes helping this other lady who came after me. That is after I had been waiting over 10 minutes to finish my transaction. I made him aware of the situation and he rightfully assists me first, although the right thing to do would been asking who had been waiting the longest instead of making assumptions. But I digress. You know, I think there's a fine line between not being up to speed with the latest technology and being entirely helpless. I see this line crossed why too often at the Commissary: either train your employees at the very basic functions of their job or please, give everyone a favor, and don't hire them.

It’s good for anything boxed if you don’t mind having to check all the expiration dates (I’ve purchased expired items because I didn’t think I had to check) . Produce section is hit or miss because sometimes the food is good and sometimes items are already spoiled. The meats are disgusting…Old blood and whatever diseases that come along with that line the chicken section. Crazy how this is allowed.

Getting very frustrated with items that are covered by WIC not being in their system correctly or whatever so it isn’t covered when I go to check out. Randomly had blackberries the other day not covered. Today whole wheat bread, plain white eggs, Colby jack blocked cheese. All things that should be covered and not being at this store. I have a toddler and don’t have time to be running to another store let alone pay attention and ask you to just put back the item when I shouldn’t have to be worried when I know it’s a covered item. Shopping using WIC shouldn’t be this hard especially at a military store. Very disappointed
