I came to Coarse long ago (over a year ago). While the hostess was nice and felt bad, I remembered we waited about two hours to get a table. It is a very small restaurant, and we had reservations. The hostess did give us and everybody else waiting free unlimited champagne while we were waiting. Fast forward to today, I had reservations I made over a month ago via Resy and Coarse’s online website for four on a Friday night. A phone number texted a few days ago confirming the reservation. While we were driving there, we texted back to say we were running late. The phone number texted back they were permanently closed. We tried to call the phone number and other number listed on their website, but nobody picked up. It would have been nice to let us know days ago that they were closed so we wouldn’t have wasted money on the Uber ride and could have made alternative reservations at another restaurant.

Where to begin? One of the absolute worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. This restaurant is extremely careless when it comes to food allergies and should be closed down ASAP. After disclosing allergy information in text before arriving and again upon arrival to the chef, the warnings were disregarded. A substitute dish for a shellfish allergy was served on the same plate as a crab tostada. A plate full of cashews was served to someone in my party with a life threatening nut allergy. For a place charging as much as they do for mediocre food, and marketing themselves as a fine dining restaurant, how can you be so careless? What’s worse? We were somehow made to feel this was our fault. We were told we “drank too much (we had not. In fact, we only drank the wine that was poured to us as part of the tasting. Additionally, we got told to “drink faster” because they were behind on dishwashing.) and that we should leave. Not once did we get an apology or an offer to comp the meal. They were extremely rude, flippant, and the manager Jay acted in extreme poor taste. There was Zero accountability by anyone (chef, Jay) for a situation that could have ended much worse for the person in our party. Please spare yourself and do not go here. Ever. Dietary restrictions: We disclosed on numerous occasions a shellfish allergy and a life threatening nut allergy. They were extremely careless.

Disgusted by this place. Hope they’re shut down asap. Was somehow BLAMED after consuming nuts after mentioning my allergy numerous times. Wish I could post a more effective review to save others in advance. Truly unbelievable for NYC.

The prix fixe menu for four cost more than $900. This kind of meal should never, ever cost that much. If you’re vegan you can get twice as much quality for half the price at abcV.

Never had such an absolutely appalling dining experience in my life. After expressing numerous times (in the reservation, in text messages and at the table) that we had a severe nut and shellfish allergy at the table, we were kicked out. We were never asked our name at check in and were told to hurry up and finish our wine because they were behind on dishwashing. In addition to several other smaller issues, our friend’s substitute shellfish dish (severe allergy) was served on the same plate as a crab tostada. Biggest issue of all, my fiancée was served asparagus with cashews (after noting his fatal nut allergy). After he unknowingly ate the dish, we expressed our utmost concern that he could die from consuming this and were told it would be best if we left as we drank too much. We drank the wines served with the pairing and nothing more. We were made to be mortified and to feel like it was our fault he ate something that he could die from. We were asked to leave by Jay after he shouted at us numerous times that it was our fault and we over-drank. Id note that we are a group of friends that frequently gathers over fine-dining and certainly did not over do it. Beyond that, this is a disgusting response to a near-fatal dining experience. To say I’m sickened by my experience here is an understatement. I plan to report this disgusting, absolute joke of an establishment to the city. Horrendous, rude, and by far the worst tasting (frankly, dining) experience I’ve ever encountered. Do not ever dine here. The food is mediocre at best and the service is frankly appalling and should be (and will be, by our group) immediately reported.

Made a reservation and had it confirmed through text, which was confusing since there are multiple numbers you have to try and they are slow to respond. Then we show up and guess what? It’s closed! What the heck? Well that’s one way to show customers you don’t care about them.

So for my first pretty woman dinner, amazing. I loved every dish they all had their own unique individual taste. So I didn’t have a favorite. I loved the experience, the food and the service.

Coarse is a very unassuming restaurant with the most incredible multi course meal. We had the full tasting menu with wine pairings. The restaurant made a full vegan meal for me but the food was spectacular. Each house has delicious blend of spices, complimentary veggies and sauces. The wines were amazing as we started with Spanish white wine, then French, the most amazing Sake, German wine and two reds. The end of the meal concluded with a white port that was dessert in of it self. The service was impeccable. Dietary restrictions: Can accommodate both vegan and vegetarians

I can’t begin to describe how amazing our dinner was. I booked Coarse as a dinner to celebrate my nyc elopement. I was a party of 7 with my 7 month old baby. Jay reached out immediately and was super accommodating, friendly and genuinely dedicated to making sure we had a memorable once in a lifetime experience. The staff at Coarse placed flowers above our table and went above and beyond in their service. Jay even got on a chair and asked the restaurant to celebrate our union, he is truly the best. We felt so loved, honored, full of food, wine and happiness when leaving Coarse. This restaurant will forever hold a place in our heart and we can’t wait to return each year to see Jay and celebrate our wedding anniversary.
