Co Chung Vietnamese Restaurant Plaza Singapura - Authentic Taste of Vietnam

The shop manager who is on duty on 17th April 2024 during lunch time has extremely bad attitude and rude manner. We wanted to order vegetarian rice pancake but she said unavailable. So we pointed at the menu said let's order the vegetarian broken rice instead. When the food came, my husband passed me the egg as we know their vegetarian broken rice always come with eggs. After that we realised it came with meat. So i walked to her and requested for a change. Her reply was extremely rude saying you have already touched the rice, we would not change for you. She said when you saw the egg should have told us to change alraedy. We are very upset because 1) she doesn't know her shop's product 2) she refused to apologise for taking wrong order 3) scolded at customer for touching the dish and refused to change. We are super happy with the food and the rest of the staff in this shop. It is very unfortunate that they have such rude and unreasonable supervisor in this branch.

A bit of a queue, but it moved quickly. Think there's enough photos of food, so I have posted the receipt to represent what I ate! We ordered loads for the 3 of us and managed to finish everything because the food was yummy! We enjoyed eating the smaller dishes ala taps style more than anything and loved how everything came we side salad that tasted so fresh. Dishes I would definitely order again: 1. F07 nem nuong - very tasty, fragrant, juicy chicken skewers on lemongrass 2. F06 Bo la lot nuong - the combination of grilled beef, betel leaf paired with minty, creamy and fresh dipping sauce just works! 3. G05 - avocado coffee. This was surprisingly enjoyable. More like an avocado coffee ice cream/ shake About the other dishes: B06 - enjoyed the prawns and pork salad. It was light, tasty and refreshing, but seeing that most of the dishes already come with a salad, can consider dropping this D04 - ban beo - nice chwee Kueh like texture with a crunchy topping. We would order this again if we decide not to order mains. C06 - cha CA la vong. I loved the freshness of the dill served with the catfish and that beehoon salad combi. But compared to the other dishes, the fish can feel a tad greasy. L04 - mountain tribe bamboo rice w chicken stew. Really enjoyed the texture and flavour of the glutinous rice and the tastiness of the gravy, but really, there were only odds and ends of chicken bits on bone served. Otherwise it would have been a good dish. E08 - this is the fav dish of my friend who used to live in Vietnam. But to me it wasn't a stand out dish when compared to the others we had. Will definitely visit again.

Very very bad service, food standard drop compared to few years ago. The hype and long queue is due to bad and slow service

Service was extremely slow when we went, the staff took 20 mins to clear table after the previous patrons left. Was next in-line at the cashier but waited another 5 mins for the cashier to return to the man the register. Food was subpar, the rice was quite dry. Would recommend the noodle dishes instead. Egg drop coffee was good.

Always wanted to try this place. Arrived early at Plaza Singapura basement and happy to see that the queue is decent since it is an early evening. Happy to see that they have good options of vegetarian dishes and it tastes good.

Authentic tasty Vietnamese food, we’ love it and will definitely recommend. We like the Vietnamese tapioca dumpling.

Price is slightly higher than the menu, and cashier did not give a heads up about price increase. To careful that there’s cartilage mixed with the ingredients in the transitional Banh Mi which I don’t expect it.

Food is ok, ate here a couple of times. But decided to give review today because their service is very terrible. Came with a child, ordered the standard beef pho but the order came spicy. No service recovery, insisted I made the wrong order, I said Co1 but the wrong order was do1. Their attitude was I should have checked and they pushed all responsibility to customer. Next time create a form for people to tick if English is not good. The other time we came, they were very busy, we asked to check if there was a table, the staff was quite rude as well at turning people away. Overall their service needs to seriously improve.

Co Chung is located in the basement of Plaza Singapura along Orchard Road. We ordered the Spicy Beef Noodles, Traditional Vietnamese Baguette, Fresh Spring Rolls, Deep Fried Spring Rolls and the Steamed Tapioca Dumplings. Taste is pretty close to what you will expect in Vietnam. Service staffs at friendly and helpful. Expects queue during lunch and dinner period. This outlet does not take any reservations as they have limited seatings. Some of the dishes such as the Vietnamese Pancake is not available in this outlet. They have another outlet in Boat Quay that takes reservation and the Vietnamese Pancake is available. Recommended to Vietnamese food lovers.

Having stayed in Vietnam for more than a month, I'm looking for pho that reminds me of the good old times. So I started tasting pho shops around the city. The tables were made from old sewing machines, that reminds me of my two grandmas sitting in front of the machines. By the time I was about to record this scene, I was asked to change my table as the one I'm sitting belongs to someone who both are ordering at the counter ( ‍♂️). But it was another staff member who asked me to take their table ‍♂️ I was then arranged to sit outside the bread station, which has a completely different atmosphere, it only has an 8" table, with people passing behind me. My long strong male legs couldn't fit under the table and I could only sit by putting my legs aside . This has to -2 stars for the discomfort. I ordered the pork and beef noodle. To my surprise, this is the third shop in SG that uses chilli sauce in Vietnamese Pho, which completely destroyed the taste. I like the fresh taste of meat, basil, lime and the soup, not orange chili oil floating around the bowl. I can only say they aren't original, despite how the dish is presented. It's disappointing.
