this place is genuinely a hidden gem! Food quality and variety is amazing and everything is so balanced. Everything from drinks, apps, entrees, dessert, vibe are all worth coming back again and again. This restaurant has quickly become my go to for special celebrations and group dinners. They also have a private dining room which is great for events!

I cannot express how utterly disappointed and disgusted I am with my recent dining experience at Clark Lewis in Portland. It was an evening marred by incompetence, poor service, and subpar food that left a bitter taste in my mouth, figuratively and literally. Let's start with the service—or lack thereof. The staff at Clark Lewis seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than attending to the needs of the patrons. Our server displayed a shocking level of apathy, as if taking our orders and ensuring a pleasant dining experience was beneath them. Requests for simple things like water refills were met with eye rolls and an attitude that can only be described as disdainful. Now, let's talk about the culinary catastrophe that unfolded on our table. The menu boasted of exquisite dishes, but what arrived was a far cry from the promised gastronomic delight. The appetizers were a chaotic mishmash of flavors that left me questioning the chef's competence. The main courses were even worse – overcooked, underseasoned, and lacking any semblance of creativity. It's as if the kitchen had given up on delivering quality long before our unfortunate visit. Clark Lewis in Portland should serve as a cautionary tale for anyone considering dining out in the area. Save your time, money, and taste buds from this culinary disaster.

My partner and I came here for our first Valentine’s Day together, and the food was unpleasant. Bland and redundant. The red velvet cake was dry. Staff looked stressed and all over the place. Not worth the money and time to come.

Food was incredible but be very careful if you have a severe allergy. Asked which of the deserts had nuts because my sister has a severe nut allergy and our server recommended the Crème brûlée. After having her first bite my sister immediately knew something was wrong…the desert was full of hazelnuts. This was not disclosed on the menu and our server said it had no nuts. My sister ended up throwing up her entire dinner and having to ER. Our waitress hid after that and never came by to apologize. They comped a round of drinks but that was the only apology we got for putting my sister in a very scary situation with a huge hospital bill. Very unimpressed with how they handled this situation.

What on earth happened on Valentine's Day??? I would leave one star but the sommelier was AMAZING and was the only one to apologize for this mess of a service. My date and I paid $$$$ to wait over an hour for the amuse bouche to even arrive. The whole service took 4 hours, mostly just us waiting and waiting. Honestly, the people who were never able to be seated were the lucky ones. The food was just ok. It was absolute chaos. I feel super ripped off.

We've been here twice before and had a nice experience. It's pricey but we're happy as long as the food is good. Today we wanted to go for happy hour before a show and arrived at 5:30pm when the website said happy hour was until 6pm. The hostess said that they've asked for the website to be updated for weeks and it hadn't, and the system locked out the happy hour items at 5:30pm. We stayed for dinner anyway; the broccoli starter and my pasta were excellent as expected, but my husband's veggie pizza tasted like a cheap frozen pizza!! The desserts (which we didn't order) were around $17 and with the 10% living wage addition would make it close to $20 for a dessert, which is shockingly high. Today's unexpected happy hour closing early plus the terrible pizza really soured us on Clarklewis. A restaurant of this caliber shouldn't offer food that they can't make well, especially at this kind of price point.
