Chica has been around the corner from my apartment for several years now and I'm so glad to see they have taken root on the neighborhood. I had my first coffee from here today which has cinnamon and some other magic in it, and basically I'm never going to Starbucks again. Tomorrow I plan to try bacon and egg breakfast tacos and a shrimp mexi-bowl with cucumber and escaveche for brunch. If their food is anywhere as good as their coffee, I will be adding a fifth star.. To be continued... Part 2 I planned to have the bacon & egg tacos but due to a shortage they have been taken off the menu for now. Ultimately I decided on the vegetable tacos. These robust babies are stuffed with huge chunks of grilled vegetables, beans, scrambled eggs, and cheese, plus Tapatíos. Off the chain yummy!! Also ordered the Diablo shrimp bowl with half salad half Spanish basmati rice. The shrimp was grilled perfectly and the red sauce is lick the bowl tasty. Must order extra on the side next time. Overall, I was very happy with my meal and I will definitely be ordering from here again very soon. Parking is challenging, but after circling the block, a spot can usually be found within a short walk.
I have gotten Chica’s pretty much once a week for lunch for months. One of the main food places I miss the most now that I moved out of Oakland. I almost always get the carnitas bowl with pico de gallo and guac The steak torta was a favorite of mine, but they don’t do it anymore sadly
Fantastic spot. Exceptional. Time to bring back inside dining.
Hands down the BEST lunch you can get in the East Bay. I’m obsessed.
Such great food. Everything is fresh. It’s always a treat when we get Chica.
