Chi Tung Restaurant

I went yesterday (2-10) to celebrate m son's birthday and everyone was so disappointed with the experience. I couldn't believe how much the quality of the food and the general service changed. When we started going to this place they would welcomed in yoir tables you with hot towels for you to clean your hands, a delicious side of cicumber and onions and one of the best teas I had in a restaurant and they would send you home not with a repacked fortune cookie, but with a in house almond cookie... Now, the food was maybe OK. The appetizers were not that bad, everything else was at best average. The portions were waaat smaller that before. The sushi was the worst I have in a long time. One of our dishes got to the table with a portion of a sweetener package on top of he rice. None of us had sweeteners in our table, who knows where that came from. Our waitress was the only good element of our experience. Sadly, i forgot her name, but she did an excellent job and took grear care of us. But I am only giving 3 stars in this area since the receptionists were not too helpful and I called tje place earlier in the day and tje person that answered was not only useless giving us the information we needed but rude. In the almost 1 year that I have not visited, Chi Tung has changed so much that I won't visit this place again. Too often during the 1.5 hours we spent there we were just talking about how good it was before and how bad it was now. What a waste of monwy and our time.

Good drinks service was amazing! Our waitress was attentive with a great sense of humor. Food came out really fast and was delicious. Will definitely be coming back.

Let start by saying overall rating is 0. December 27th 2023 I went to this place because I was hungry to dine in instead of takeout. Oh my, my, my!… where do I begin, I waited to be seated like any other restaurant which was fine . The assistant robot even caught my attention from the moment I was seated and handed the menu everything went downhill. The server who attended me was the worse I know what I wanted and told him he got me all confused after I told him what I wanted. First I was handed a burnt egg roll then there goes my food wrong order with his THUMB INSIDE MY FOO. would you eat that food again if you were me? I told him that’s not what I order that it come separately not together in one plate, he said once the food is make you can’t change it. At that point I was like can I talk to the manager he left and come back and said there is nothing we can’t do for you. Even though I end up explaining to the manager she did not pay attention to me either and was so rude and racist and on top of it all they still charge me with the food. I used to love this place after covid-19 they went under a new management and these Asian right here are dishonest. I don’t recommend this place at all. As Black we Should support our OWN SO WE CAN THRIVE AS WELL. ‍♀️

Been my go to in Asian cuisine for over 30 years.

Alright. So I always order my Chinese dishes from here. But usually, I order take out. Instead. I decided to try dining in and I can honestly say the food tastes sooooooo much better dining in. I’ve ordered take out during peak and non peak hours but for whatever reason dining in, no matter the hour….. the food’s quality is 100x better. Sucks because i now feel I must dine in for better quality, when sometimes I would rather eat my dish at home.

This is one of the better Asian restaurants, especially for the South side. My Korean wife and I agree their hibachi is number 1 and we go to restaurants all the time. You will unfortunately spend close to $100 for 2 people after the meal which may include drinks and mandatory gratuity. Guaranteed you will eat so much that you can't eat about bite. The hibachi is definitely a great special occasions place. Their regular restaurant is great too, with better priced deals like 2 people for 30. Only competition that would come close in this area is Wu's Japanese house. But my number 1 Asian restaurant still remains my wife's favorite, Peking Mandarin. It's a smaller family owned spot, but their Mongolian beef is the best I have ever tasted. Back to chi Tung, if you haven't been, then you are doing yourself a disservice. As an update in 02/2024 they are still going strong and the food is still A+. My wife stated today that she prefers this in comparison to Wu's Japanese house.
