Although, I appreciate that Chez Zee opened in the 60's, it really use some updating. Ex. Plastic flowers collect tons of dust. The bar area is lively, loved the jazz photos throughout the resturant. My last two visits the food was warm ,not hot!
We adore Sharon & runs her place like a well greased machine. Think this fun place to meet & eat might last thousands of years...?! ✔
Great desserts and good food
The food was really delicious, and I couldn’t believe how much you get for the price. It’s surprising for Austin. And the ambiance was very cute… lots of twinkly lights inside, which made me think it’d be a good place for a sweet, but not too formal date. I definitely want to come back and try other dishes. I had their French toast, which came with eggs, sausage, and potatoes.
Great and tasty brunch. Great location. Friendly staff and good service.
Chez Zee is an old Austin favorite, with always excellent food, great service, and a lovely atmosphere--and the best selection of desserts in Austin! I love the key lime pie! Happy hour specials on appetizers, drinks, and entrees, too! My Mom loved her margarita. We couldn't finish the red velvet cake, but then again, all the desserts are humongous (and tasty). A nice bar, too. The only drawback: it can get really loud. Vegetarian options: Salads, pizzas. Parking: It can fill up when busy.
Sunday brunch, 1:PM: Seated with menus, then we wait 8-10 minutes for water & someone to take drink order. Table was clean, but floor was cluttered with food and other objects (photo). They served tasteless generic "syrup" with french toast, we declined the $5 upcharge for maple syrup. The ersatz "syrup" was served refrigerator-cold; but since the french toast was room temperature, it probably didn't matter that much. There are better brunches elsewhere.
