Chez TJ

We had a tasting menu dinner with my husband . The food was ok, really nothing special. We’ve been to many different Michelin restaurants and this one didn’t impress us at all. The service was great in the beginning but then our waiter got busy with other tables. He recommended 2 wines that were completely out of our tastes .. when he was pouring our wines, he spilled a couple of drops on the white table cloth . And finally , the atmosphere and the interior design didn’t impress at all. The lamp on the table had dust on it and the bathroom wasn’t clean .

We have been really enjoying coming to Chez TJ for the past three years, which net out to be about 15 meals during various occasions. The service is always warm and welcoming, the food consistently good and their sommelier Paul always had interesting pairing designs. We never minded the long dining experience and actually really enjoyed the pace. We were a little disappointed last year when they decreased their courses likely due to they have received feedback on the dinner being too long but thought the food was still good and worth it. We recently visited again after their chef change. We were initially very excited given we really like Quince. However, I have to say - the food experience was very subpar for a few reasons 1) most dishes were undersalted or do not have flavor. It is one thing if this is individual dishes, but it’s another thing when it’s universal across all courses. 2) in the past it was very rare when garnish’s purely for the looks but it was obvious that some of the colorful dots on the plates had no flavor whatsoever. 3) the dish designs were off, it was hard to have A B C elements of a dish design all in one bite because there were mismatched numbers of them. 4) they used mango for palate cleanser which was way too sweet. 5) nothing was impressive in a wow kind of way. Service was still good. Wine was still good although it seems their wine director has changed too. We were just quite disappointed and don't think this food justifies the price or a one star title. I hope the new team find their footing soon and do not ruin one of our favorite restaurants.

Had an amazing dining experience! The staff was super attentive and friendly, and the food was absolutely incredible. It was a delightful dinner. Huge thanks to the chef! :)

For a thousand dollars dinner for two, I expected much more. I have had better tasting menus at half the price elsewhere. I requested fewer seafood items. They basically gave me a vegetarian menu with one meat course (steak for which I paid $100 extra, otherwise it would have been quail). The service staff seemed disjointed, often coming in each other’s way and seemed to rush through things. Some of them didn’t seem like they wanted to be there. The wines were ok, not worth the hundreds of dollars they charged. The whole meal is dessert heavy. The desserts are sugar bombs. I guess that’s done so you don’t go home still hungry from the sparse non dessert courses. Dietary restrictions: If you request less seafood, you are getting a vegetarian meal

I enjoyed this place

Long time fans of Chez TJ, we had some very high expectations for dinner tonight, as we were going to experience creations by Chef Stan Michalski for the first time. It was a great experience! Incredible flavors and textures. Wine pairing by Sommelier Ted Merkel was a fantastic choice as well. We'll definitely be back!
