Honestly had a terrible time here but the food was good. I went solo and got my food first but not my house chai. Everyone else seemed to get their beverages before me. Hopefully they get a bigger place because the food is worth it. Still would recommend to eat but just not dining in
I’m rarely seduced by brunch- but these pancakes were so soft and fluffy I’m still thinking about them hours later.
Been here a few times and tried different things on the menu. Always been happy. Mostly recently enjoyed the jerk pork bowl for lunch. Service is always very friendly. On Thursday evening they had live music, which was nice.
Came there at 10AM and the waiter there said they weren't serving food until 10:30AM but that we could try some of their original cocktails or take coffee until kitchen opens so we did. Waited for the food to arrive almost half an hour after ordering but it was worth it. Cute little home like restoraunt. Pictures included. I would definitely recomend going there but be ready to wait for food a bit longer than expected.
Great vibe, super friendly and efficient service. Delicious food!
I haven’t had better soul food in all of NYC. It took me a while of living nearby before going in to try it out, because the front isn’t overly flashy. But the owner pulled me over to say hi one time, and the rest is history. You can tell that the staff is like family; not in the toxic way, but in a way where everyone who comes in leaves feeling like a neighbor. I love their rotation of local black/women art, not to mention their schedule for incredible live music. This restaurant has played a huge role in making me feel at home in Brooklyn over the last 5 years, and I know I’m one of many people who feel the same. You can’t go wrong on their menu, so if a great restaurant atmosphere isn’t for you, at least try the food. You won’t regret it.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. However - it needs to be made clear that the gratuity is included on the check. I ended up tipping around 50% without realizing it. After looking at some other reviews, I realize I’m not the only one that this has happened to. It should be written on the menus, the servers should tell you, and there shouldn’t be a line for the tip on the check - let alone a big “SUGGESTED GRATUITIES” at the bottom of the check. I didn’t realize until after I left and was thinking about how oddly expensive the meal was. This is a great neighborhood spot and I hate leaving with a “bad taste” in my mouth, thinking that I could have been deceived.
