Cellar Door Provisions

I dream of this restaurant. It’s a niche craft restaurant with a deep appreciation for local produce. Their menu and dining room is simple which adds to the experience. Their dishes are boasting with flavor and it transports me to Europe where the tomatoes actually taste like tomatoes. If you have an elevated palate you will appreciate Cellar Door Provisions. 10/10. One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago

Friendliest staff making you feel at home eating amazing food, one dish after the other.....and that bread!

Came in on a Saturday night and sat at the bar. Food and wine were great and service was attentive. Nice neighborhood spot

We all left underwhelmed and confused by all of the positive reviews - we must have been in a different restaurant. Course by course it was decent and then for a finale, the whole quail - returned not once but twice for being served uncooked - I mean raw on the inside. Apology from anyone? Nope. Michelin guide, you must reconsider.

Overall the food is quite good and unique. The gnocchi was freshly made and cooked well. They have a great selection of natural wines that is priced appropriately. The service is the weakness here, mainly due to understaffing. Most of the waitstaff seems to also have kitchen jobs. For example, my table’s waitress also was making the gnocchi in btw orders. This resulted in getting dishes 45 min to 1 hr after you order them. They really need to fix this issue to move to the next level. Also, they charge some undisclosed service fee on the tab as the pre-tax/tip total is not equivalent to the total value of the things you order.

Had been meaning to eat here for years. Great wine, great service. Perfect vibe inside. Food is underprepared and underseasoned. I understand the fresh and vegetable-forward approach, but at points it didn't feel like the kitchen had done more than deposited some ingredients on a plate and sent it out to be served.

Was looking forward to eating at Cellar Door! Put name in and had around a 90 minute wait (7pm on a Saturday night). This wasn't entirely unexpected. Food was very tasty, but was a bit disappointed with the limited menu when we were eventually seated. The restaurant runs out of food throughout the night, and we were limited to only a few types of salads, polenta, and cooked peppers. We did have a wonderful bottle of Orange wine which was truly unique. Food and wine was delicious, however I wouldn't go back due to the time we spent there (3 hours) for limited food options.

Watching Chef Ethan in action made us want everything on the menu that we didn’t order and the things we did order were as delicious as you can imagine! The staff were equally as awesome. We’ll be back to try all of the other dishes.
