Pretty good meat and nice service.

The prime rib was excellent and this is now my prime rib spot. Nowhere in the valley can you get prime rib seasoned this good. The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic dinner or family dinner.

Cattlemen's Steakhouse in Selma is like a rollercoaster of dining experiences. The Pete's Special is my go-to dish, because you never know if you'll get the best or worst Prime Rib here. The service is a wild ride too - it starts off rocky but somehow ends up being good. The first time I went, they didn't have enough tables and the front desk girls just casually told us to come back another time. I guess they were just trying to keep us on our toes!

Excellent food and service

My companion and I arrived at opening time, 4:00 pm. We had a reservation and did not wait long before being seated. We were actually the third couple to be seated. All was well. The server promptly took our orders; I ordered the salmon, and he ordered a burger. We both chose the mashed potatoes for our side dish. Cattlemen advertise all-you-can-eat salad, bread, and beans. These are all brought to the table while the entree and side dish are being prepared. This is when our birthday dinner celebration was tarnished a bit. We both chose blue cheese dressing for the salad. We both noticed that the dressing didn't taste like blue cheese, but it did taste strongly of mayonnaise. We have had blue cheese dressing from multiple eating establishments, and each had its own flavor, but this did not taste like it was in-house freshly made. For the prices of the meals I would expect the dressing to be house made. Then we asked if we could get a second bread loaf. To our dismay, we were told they were out, but more was being made. We thought OK we will get more once it's ready. We thought wrong. The server passed our table several times, glancing at our progress, but we she never brought us bread. The odd thing was that the group sitting next to us had more bread brought to the table without the need of asking for it. They had a different server. The beans finally came with the entree. They are served in a little cast iron kettle meant for us to share. The kettle had maybe a half cup serving and was mostly broth, very few beans. It has me wondering if they were canned. The entrees were good but again for the price I expected more.

Good ole fashioned steakhouse! The staff was friendly and prompt even on a busy Saturday night. The portions are generous and the prices fair for the great food.
