What a great experience! I was surprised that we got a table as a walk-in. Must have gone at exactly the right time because they got pretty busy not long after we were seated. Drinks were good, and, go figure, the bread and butter was delicious. I had the cauliflower and my friend had steak and we both loved our food. Raspberry beignets were also delicious. Staff was amazing, too. Very attentive, friendly, and had good recommendations. I would definitely go back.

Very enjoyable dinner with welcoming service. The short ribs were flavorful and the bread was warm and tasted delicious. The crème brûlée and cappuccino was perfect. The cocktail with the watermelon cubes was worth every penny. Overall a great experience! I want to return every time I go to Manhattan. I reserved my table on Open Table.

I mean what is there to say? This place has been top-rated for years and for good reason. Lovely ambiance, wonderful service and the food is incredible. I recommend all my friends from out of town who are seeing a show to come here for dinner! Dishes to NOT miss: the rolls (get the bigger order thank me later…hell get two!), the yellow tomato cavitappi with lamb rags, and the pork chop (pictured here). Go here. Don’t debate other places just go here.

Unfortunately, we were really disappointed on our visit to Butter despite both me and my gf really looking forward to it. We visited last Thursday and were directed down the stairs quite blunty. We then met the host, a young girl who looked quite miserable and was not welcoming at all. We ordered two soft drinks, the chicken and pork chop. The chicken was great, however the pork was very chewy, hard to cut and lacking in taste. Also, although the server was friendly, the service was NOT up to standard. The drinks took a while to arrive despite them only being 2 cokes, and we had nearly finished our food by the time the waitress came to check how everything was. We expected the usual American standard of service with the usual warm intro from the waitress, however we got what felt like a cold and short opener - we did not feel looked after at all. Again, perfectly friendly girl and nothing at all against her, however we received a noticeably better service from almost every other restaurant we visited this past week, all of which were not as up-market, one of which was Dallas BBQ. This should not be the case. We agreed our decision on whether to visit again would rest on the dessert, and wow was it awful. We shared the creme brulee (the waitress kindly suggested we share rather than order two). The portion was large but it tasted very bland and had a terrible bitter after taste. My gf always wanted to visit butter after first seeing it in Gossip Girl and then seeing numerous videos of the various plates on offer, but our experience was poor, particularly given the price (which we expected, but the food and service did not earn). On a plus side, the bread rolls and two butter flavours were nice. Just nowhere near up to the standard you would expect overall. Unfortunately, we won't be going again and wouldn't recommend butter based on our experience anyway. Really disappointing given how much we looked forward to it.

This is specifically about an event space, not the general dining room. We had a work event on the 10th floor, with the terrace. It was raining, though, so 60% of the space was unusable because there were no anti slip pads or rain mitigation strategies employed. This meant that our party of 40 had to squeeze into a 20-person space, fire code be damned. The food was okay. Their salad was fresh and paired well with the dressing. The cauliflower was also pretty good, but that was also the only main that I could eat and it was still a bit on the heavy side, mostly owing to the sauce. The drinks selection available to us was alright, but I ultimately went with juice (they had pineapple and cranberry) because the Sauvignon Blanc seemed the most promising and was still pretty bad (thankfully, I asked for a small sample, so there wasn't too much wasted). They also didn't provide adequate climate control for the room. At first, I had asked them to open the door or let me stand under the overhang to cool off, but understandably they said they'd wait till everyone was seated before doing so. About half an hour later, after everyone was already seated, I'd already become too overheated for iced beverages to work, so I asked them again for access to the terrace under the overhang, but they denied both that and the option of just propping the door open (presumably due to the terrace having poor drainage, reasonably enough). I told them I was heating up way too much in the room, to which they said they had the AC on -- at max. If that is true, their AC must be a desk fan because the temperature was steadily inching up, even in the coolest spots by the window (where I sat). At that point, I was already starting to feel the effects of overheating and decided to head out, but the elevator buttons didn't work. I had to wait for someone to come up and rescue me, which took about 5 minutes, but felt like forever as I was trying to stay conscious. It looked like the others were able to deal with the heat okay, but I definitely could not stay any longer. It probably would've been better had they put a contingency in place, either a larger indoor space or some way of making the outdoor space work for people willing to take on that risk. Their handling of the situation, waffling between empty promises and reneging on them, was certainly also quite disappointing. For others looking to hold larger events on the terrace floor, make sure you have a contingency set in place, in case weather happens, because they definitely don't have one available otherwise. Dietary restrictions: Not particularly suitable for people looking for a lighter meal, lower on carbs and higher on greens. Aside from the salad, everything was heavily slathered in sauce, including the otherwise-healthy-ish cauliflower.

The food here was fabulous! Make reservations and go! I had halibut and I have never had fish so moist and flavorful, the sauce was perfect. My friends had short ribs and they were fork tender. The desserts were a step beyond; the crème brûlée was twice as big as any other I have ever had and the cookie on top- brilliant addition!

Soooo disappointing. Overpriced, food was meh. Service was poor-our waiter only had 4 tables and he was slow and clearly distracted. $6.00 for unsweetened tea and we were charged for refills! Alex we really like you on TV, your restaurant is not doing your reputation any favors.

Was honestly extremely disappointed in our experience on Saturday night. I have been a fan of Alex for so long and was so excited to try her restaurant, we planned a vacation to nyc around it. We had reservations at 7 for our anniversary and although the service and atmosphere were great, the food was horrible. The fries came out cold and the gnocchi Mac and cheese had so much topping it ruined the meal. My husband ordered the steak and also did not enjoy it. The drinks were ok but tasted sort of weak. We ordered a lot right off the bat and ended up regretting it, and literally barely touching it. Still had a $240 bill though. Wouldn’t come here again unfortunately.
