Our first time here! The atmosphere is a very laid back place to eat and talk. The music goes well with the vibe of this place. We ordered Longsilog, lumpia Shanghai, tosilog, and halo halo. We really liked the tosilog and halo halo the most. Their service is fast as well. We came around lunch time so it wasn’t that busy but do expect it to be busy later in the day.
This was a great experience. The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was very tasty. The menu is on the smaller side but there were plenty of options for everyone no matter what their dietary needs. I've never had Filipino food before but definitely want to have it again. Definitely worth a visit.
All the food was delicious! We ordered the pancit, liempo, and kare kare which was a good amount for 2 people. definitely different from typical filipino food I've had, a fun thing to try with different flavors (but not like a replacement or "better" from the classic flavors or feel- if you just want to try Turon or lumpia, go to Seafood City or any other filipino restaurant). the meat in the kare kare was so tender & the sunflower butter base made the taste softer than the regular peanut butter. Very helpful for the reservation to ask for allergy notes so that the server can go through what is safe to eat right at the start. the one thing with the server that seemed a bit eh was like they kept trying to convince people to order more food? for us and the table next to us. I think the portions may be on the smaller side so I don't know if they're trying to set expectations and avoid complaints after the food comes out, but it was a bit awkward to repeatedly be like we are fine with the amount of food that we ordered (esp considering the prices).
The best place in Chicago I have dined in at for a MINUTEEEEE. Liv took excellent care of my table and was knowledgable, attentive, and personable. It is BYOB (you can bring anything) and they charge $4/per bottle that you are enjoying as a corkage fee. You cannot leave without having the Lumpiang Shanghai, Liempo (grilled pork belly), mac salad (my favorite), and the Adobong Isda (brothy black cod served in a donabe). Phenomenal flavors, textures, and cook. I can't say enough good things. Also... the Milky Milky Ice Cream, which is a brown sugar & kasama rum housemade ice cream, was PHENOMENAL. I would go there just for this and I wish I could purchase a large vat and bring it home. The atmosphere was really lovely - Very laidback, cute asthetic, and ample seating depending on your party size. I enjoyed the music choice and it wasn't overly loud, despite the smaller/cozy size of the restaurant. Parking: Located right off Western - Easy to find a parking spot (we went on a Friday night) without paying for meter or having a permit!
Very overrated. Food was meh (lacking any unique or special flavor) and extremely overpriced. $60ish per person without any drinks or desserts. Worth maybe 1/3 of that at most.
Food was simply fantastic! BYOB.
