A wonderful little stop tucked away in the East Village, great for a relaxing stop to kill time, pass an afternoon with a good book on the back patio, or even bring a date. The cocktail menu is solid, the rosemary Paloma is a highlight. It shouldn't be a surprise that it gets crowded quickly, so it's a roll of the dice if you're hoping to sit indoors or at the bar itself. The bookstore itself is small but has a wonderful selection of contemporary must reads and the "classics". I've been happy to make an excuse to stop here for a drink both times I've been in the village this month, and that'll probably keep up because I love the excuse to buy a book and a cocktail when I can make it.
Great atmosphere for writer and reader enthusiasts alike
We need more social spaces like this!
ironically not the best place for reading. also wasnt impressed with the service
This little bookstore is the ultimate den for a cozy evening read. Slide into a seat at the bar, order a drink, open up a book, and let the world melt away. There's a good variety of drinks to choose from, including coffee, ciders, and cocktails. I ordered a cider, wanting a hot non-alcoholic drink, but they gave me the exact opposite. To be fair, I didn't specify. Anywho, the cider was pretty tame, but that was fine by me. I'd like to try the espresso martini next time. In an ideal life, I'd come here every night and make my way through the menu like I make my way through chapters in a book....slowly.
