I haven't had Bonchon in a long time due to some not great experiences at the Allston branch, but seeing as they opened one near me I decided to order some for dinner. I was vastly disappointed when I opened the boxes. The boneless chicken was MUCH smaller than I remembered, with these being literal bite size pieces when it used to be at least 1.5-2x bigger. If I'm paying over $1/piece surely they should be at least not be able to fit into a tablespoon right? In addition, I had ordered 3 flavors - yangnyeom, spicy, and soy garlic. The yangnyeom was the only one covered in sauce while the spicy and soy garlic had barely any sauce on them, to the point where I could barely taste anything else but plain fried chicken. I have to say though, I liked the crunch on the chicken, though I'm sure the lack of sauce played a part. The seasoned fries were delicious and the Korean donuts were very fluffy, but missing the dipping sauce. Overall, for a $44 meal plus $7 tip, I will say it was not worth the price at all. If I were to try again, I would definitely order the drumsticks instead since those seem to be a decent size. Update: Tried again and ordered the drumsticks. The meat was moist, but very bland. I think I'll stick with bb.q chicken from now on.
Chicken is a disappointment. Pre-fried chicken then dipped in batter and re-fry. Chicken itself is bland, no taste to it. Only the sauce makes the chicken edible.
