I live in Laguna Beach, down the street from Bodega. We were celebrating a friend's special day, and both were craving Mexican food, so it seemed the perfect place. It was a Monday for lunch; it was quiet, so we got a nice booth towards the back of the room. A busser greeted us immediately with chips and salsa, and another brought water in a charming bottle. We both ordered Ensenada Tacos (2) flour tortillas, beer battered mahi-mahi, jalapeño slaw, pasilla aioli, queso cotija, cilantro lime rice, black beans for $23. Whenever I see jalapeño on a menu, I expect it to be spicy. The slaw was yummy but not hot enough for me. BUT... We asked Matthew, our server, for a hotter salsa, so he brought us a trio of salsas. Tomatillo, Roja, and Habanero... It was so good!!! It could become one of my favorites; it's classy without being pretentious. The staff is friendly, the space has good energy, and the decor filled my head with memories as we ate. I need to go back to try some appetizers and desserts. Do you want to join?
My dish Chille Relano was decent. The shrimp was very good and the dish wasn't overly heavy. Gabrielle was a fantastic server and made sure that my friends dish was free of onions. The kitchen went over the top for her. Nice job! The server made sure to order the kids food as soon as we sat down. His service was fantastic! Ambience is quiet nice. Fair amount of things to look at inside the restaurant. The bathroom had really cool wallpaper. I enjoyed being here and was shocked that the restaurant wasn't more crowded. We almost didn't go because of it. Dietary restrictions: Very kid and allergen friendly. Amazingly so Kid-friendliness: Exceptionally kid friendly
