Bad food. The meat was not fresh
Thai style chicken/beef/shrimp noodles and rices. All dishes are sweeter than you imagine.
Worst Thai food I've ever had. Got the pad see ew. The portion size is pretty big and the food comes out like 3 minutes after you order so none of it is "fresh" or made to order obviously. The taste is sour and bitter. The heat is uneven. It's actually gross. The Thai iced coffee tasted like nesquik with ice cubes. A couple of sips and I had to toss it. No thanks. Get tacos instead, this asian food is so bad it's like an Asian hate crime given physical manifestation.
Sorry but for me, the drunken noodles were too greasy and salty. Some part pf the food also overcooked on the edge. I also tried the pad thai, it was not too greasy but kind of sweet.
blue pepper forever best food at ucsd.
It's perplexing to see negative reviews without specific details on dishes. Having worked at Hithai for five years, it's a personal favorite, especially for the fantastic Pork Chop and Panang curry sandwich. The Thai Tom Yum Noodle Soup and Egg Noodle BBQ pork are also top picks. Criticizing the prices seems unjust, as these dishes are reasonably priced at $5 for to-go orders. If you're seeking a great atmosphere, La Jolla on Garnet St or Pearl St has many Thai restaurants, albeit at a higher cost of $30-$50 per person. Personally, I give Hithai a 5-star rating for its delicious food and the friendly service, with special mention to Stan, the excellent manager, and his amiable staff.
I used their catering service for an event and I was very impressed by the portion size, service, and quality of food! Their pad thai and chicken dumplings are excellent. Will definitely be using their catering service again!
