Hemingway talks about the vital importance of a clean, well-lit place: not a perfect, glamorous, ornately decorated place, but simply a place of certainty and security, a small beacon of light in an often uncertain world. Blank Street Coffee is a clear manifestation of that ideal. I was here on a stormy, overcast day. Rains had transformed Brooklyn into this wild tempestuous ocean, roiling and raging. I need a place away from the storm, a simple and secure place where I could have a decent meal at a reasonable price (at least by Brooklyn standards). The premises of this cafe gave me such a place. I had a soothing, warm chai tea and a simple, unpretentious breakfast taco. It was not the best food I have ever had, but at that specific time, I don't think even caviar or lobster would have tasted any better.

Blank street coffee is sterile, lacking in flavor and inventory. The Brooklyn locations (Cobble Hill & Brooklyn Heights) are always out of food items by 9:30-10am. They’re a venture backed chain violating NY State law by insisting they do not take cash. It’s discriminatory and has a penalty of $1000 fine.

Easy app ordering and loyalty program! Their coffee is my favorite in the neighborhood, and very well priced.

Blank Street is honestly great. Fast service and drinks are cheaper than other coffee shops. No bathroom or indoor seating though, everything is designed for takeaway. Pro tip — get your drink here then go to Cobble Hill Park down the street.

Nice space and friendly staff. Nowhere to sit inside, but the park two blocks away is a great option. The matcha latte and the seasonal strawberry cream latte were both great. They also sell some sustainable products and are willing to make drinks in your own to-go container to combat waste. Prices felt very reasonable
