The service was amazing our girl was on it. We didn't need to ask for anything. The food sucked. Husband got meatloaf and pot roast. It was plain the seasoning there was none. I got the chicken which was good cause it was fresh. Other then that it was not good.

This was my first visit to a Black-eyed Pea Restaurant. I enjoy fish, and being "southern-type" cooking/cuisine, I decided to try the fried catfish. However, the fish was overcooked, dry inside. The fish had that oily rancid smell, and the batter overly crisp and too datk, indicating the oil was old and the temperature too hot - or simply left in the fryer way too long. The 2 sides I chose were the mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The potatoes lacked flavor but seemed fairly fresh. But the potatoe gravy was so, so peppery, made my mouth uncomfortable and does not go with the dinner. It fully and completely overpowered everything. The broccoli was tasty but the server should have stated it comes in a butter sauce. Had I known that, I would have requested no sauce. Overall my $20.00 catfish dinner was a bomb and left me hungry and very disappointed.
