Went around ~1pm on a Saturday and was able to find bar seating for two without a wait. The menu had a wide range of usual appetizers, dim sum, variety of entrees. We got the scallion pancakes, Dan Dan noodles, steam pork buns, and tea smoked duck. While everything was delicious and I would come back if I was craving some dim sum, it wasn’t the best dim sum I’ve had. The portion sizes were sufficient, scallion pancakes very oily, and steamed soup buns mid.
This was a very good experience. The food was delicious and the service was pretty good. Definitely ask the servers what they recommend if you’re unsure about choices. I went with 2 other people and 3 apps and 3 entrees were enough.
Terrible service She locked the door on front of me
This is a super popular place, so definitely make reservations! It's family style so best to come with a group. The Matcha IPA ($10) is a solid choice, not too bitter. Every dish was amazing, but I loved the wontons in chili sauce ($10), Sichuan cold noodles ($10), and cumin lamb ($29) the most. The double cooked pork ($24), sweet and sour baby ribs ($12), and duck fried rice ($15) were also delicious. They definitely take their ma la seriously, so be prepared for a sweat!
Drinks were forgotten, service is lackluster, food was good, but kinda expensive for the portions. Parking isn't ideal. Try it once, if you're already in the area.
2024 update: I take back what I said below. They updated the mapo tofu dish with soft tofu. I gave this place another chance and it’s actually an amazing restaurant with so many flavorful dishes. Still one of only TWO true Szechuan restaurants in Brooklyn. I just came here during the day for the first time yesterday, and it was such a nice vibe to sit in the restaurant with the sunlight. Very cute vibe, no loud music, and friendly attentive staff. The best way to judge a good sechuan place is by their Mapo Tofu dish. This place uses firm tofu in theirs and the sauce is very off. Very disappointing and not authentic. If I can’t get a good Mapo Tofu somewhere then it is pretty much a deal breaker for me.
