Received a gift card for our wedding so went there with friends for lunch. Meal was great as was the service. When we gave our card for payment they couldn't take it as they had a new system that couldn't read the card. The second time I took a friend for lunch. I made reservations. We were early for our table so they sat us at the bar. After we arrived there were three other groups of two that came in and were promptly seated. We were offered coffee but had to ask for a drink list. Finally a full 20 minutes after our reservation time I asked the gentleman working there how much longer we would have to wait. He said he was going to ask those other people to leave. Took a least another 10 minutes until we were seated. We ordered immediately as did another table beside us. That table received their food (all main courses) before we were served our first course of a small salad. The other thing I noticed was we were given the YYC experience menu and the Big Fish menu but not the open range menu. Over all the food was good but I was very disappointed in the service. I wonder how long we would have waited had I not mentioned anything. Dietary restrictions: There were no gluten free options for the YYC menu but last time I was there they had options for the open range menu Parking: Small lot behind restaurant. When full you have to park on 10th ave
Good comfort food at this friendly location.
Nice ambience and thanks for the team for the memorable moment . Kudos to the kitchen and server team.. yyc exp is tremendous. Nice selection of menu items.
Thank you Andy for the warm hospitality, and top notch service by Glen- the Walleye was indeed delicious, and excellent wine recommendation. We'll return!
I hate having to post this but we no longer patronize to Big Fish due to a server who has worked there for as many years as I have been going there. He is middle aged with moustache and absolutely the rudest server/host we have ever encountered. We had always put up with his complete indiffernece to his patrons and lack of tableside manner mainly due to everything else about Big Fish being awesome. The last straw was last year when we entered for our brunch reso and he stood there looking at us blankly. We stated our name and reso time and he replied with a scowl and something to the effect of, "Wouldn't it be better to start off with a 'good morning'?" Wow . I have lived in the Bridgeland/Renfrew area for almost 20 years, ate there with family and friends for dinners and brunches for more times that I can count over that time. Please let us know if he ever moves on... and we'll be back!
As someone who just moved to Calgary, I looked on the internet for a good place for fish and chips, which my daughter eats all the time in Halifax Nova Scotia, and I found this place. I ordered shrimp lasagna, my daughter and my husband ordered fish and chips. The food was good, but the service was not very good. The middle-aged waiter who with glasses brought our bill and post machine but never came to us again. This rude behavior continued as we left. Although we said thank you and have a nice day a few times, he only said "bye" with his back turned and an indifferent attitude. This rudeness hurt us a little.
Delicious and fresh ingredients! Service and staff were awesome and very professional. We were there tonight for the set menu 3 course dinner - it was SO good! We will definitely be back to try items off their regular menu. Highly, highly recommend!
